Hi, need some feedback on AC replacement. Been using a hitachi AC for ten year and it break down and I changed it to panasonic 1.5hp. After 8 years, it board give problem and I changed it a secondhand board. Now into it ten year and the blower making noise. My AC man told me it time to replace it during my last service. I usually operate it at 27 and the compressor always switch on and off cycle. If I put it at 26 - it so cold. The power monitor show it use 1280w. Since my cooling requirement is not much. I thinking of switching to inverter 1hp to cool at 27. The most I use will be 25-27. Which model do you recommend?

Just enough to remove the heat and humid from the room. We are the type afraid of cold but without air-con, the room is stuffy and hot. We use to cool down two room using the hitachi 1hp as their air flow is strong and change to 1.5hp as 1.0 that time do not have strong air flow as hitachi. After I install power monitor to track it usage, come to know most of the time. We only operate it at 26 degree during day time and 27-28 at night. 28 degree the compressor will stop and idle and this cycle repeat again and again. Air con only work hard when go beyond 25 degree and. We close the windows coz the highway is just 30 feet away from the windows and very noisy till midnight. Just check out the Mitsubishi super deluxe 1hp with 17 EER rating (the highest) and their price with installation come up to 38xx! and their 1.5 hp come up to 43xx! I think will stick back to pana econavic inverter after checking out the new type of air-con pricing. Thanks.

Try to check the priority switch at outdoor first.
Can't understand the logic behind, why they need to tap the signal cable. Unless the meter is so smart that it can mimic the off signal to outdoor once it disconnect the terminal 1.
I have never disconnect the signal cable before, can't tell what error code will occur and what is the consequences. Worse case is you void warranty of your AC unit.
Don't know Tune hotel using this kind of system. If same as Tune Hotel, then most probably the AC manufacturer approved it.

Those air-con as use by tunetalk or any budget hotel are link by network to a centre monitor with database system that track your credit. It for pay for use air-con system. The 3 wire is just a network signal wire to switch on and off the air-con. They already factor in the power usage for each hour. Some air-con come with IR sensor which also allow them to monitor if there is people in the room or not, those the owner can check if any room are been use by not paid or some one pocket the money.

If you're confirm the compressor start/stop all the time then I would think an inverter unit suits your preference as an inverter controlled compressor works based on the fluctuating heat load..

You'd probably notice a difference in your electricity bill..

Do provide feedback to confirm results ..

Sure, will provide feedback based on my power monitor meter install on the 13amp plug which I use to connect the air-con to it. I am using the heat power removing capability calculation for my room as my room usual without air-con is around 32 degree celsium and I need to bring it down to 28 to feel cool and comfort. That is around 4 degree to be remove, and the lowest I ever set is 26 is too cold for me. Those the newer Panasonic sky series 1hp (from the spec. it performance come close to my ten year old Panasonic 1.5hp BTU cooling). The price I get including installation come up to RM19xx/=. for a single storey short distance compressor to blower installation. Sure will update here for other to see if the new sky series is worth the extra RM400/= compared to econavi. Both are five star rated air-con.

Today, the panasonic Sky series 1hp installed in my room. It look huge the blower with 4 filter (two a side) and the compressor is about the same size. The aircon man told me it harder to remove this kind of aircon - many screw to take out to access the blower inside. The five star energy rating give it at 1440 kwh/year operating. Will let you all know how it perform after once full cycle and see the TNB bill drop or not.

is it making any noises when there are a huge blower with 4 filter ?

Sky Series is very quiet and the blower powerful to reach far. The direct mode is like our old type - blow direct and the shower is the newer one. It blow up and the cooling is slower to feel. Once it start to chill, it will be all round cool. iComfort mode is the the one I use. The light indicator is very bright until I learn to dim it using the RC. I like the dry mode that is -1 around the normal temp. It make one feel nice. As we enter hot season now with daily temp around 32. This one need to work extra hard. My power monitor show it ran at 900w with a peak at 1100watt. Will drop down to 400w after one hour. Since it feel nice, been running it longer hour than my old panasonic those causing the kwh to be around 10kwh/day as compared to my old one at 6kwh/day or rather it the hot weather this time. The location where one install is important as it blow upward.

The best part is my children don't suffer cool feet and hand as like my old air-con. The 28 degree is good enough and the blower is powerful. I skip my fan for now. My single storey building facing the morning sun (with a busy highway and traffic jam in front of the windows) and evening sun is hot. I put the compressor at the side so it did not get hit by direct sunlight except in the morning. The dry mode I use it during night as quiet and offer my good sleep with breeze like blower air that is cool. My worry is the maintainance of it as it required so many screw to remove and access the blower fan. The technician may charge me higher as it make them more busy unlike the other type build with ease for cleaning.

oh great to heard that this series is quiet mode. but i am still prefer the rapid cooling function for an AC. so definitely Panasonic sky series is not my choice. any better choice ?

Yes, my old aircon cool faster than this Sky Series. A simple inverter econavi with powerful mode for rapid cooling but my is operating for long hour for my children comfort. Remember my old Hitachi 1.5hp beat the panasonic 1.5hp but somehow it no longer selling near my place this model as they change to york and panasonic when it time to replace it (use it for ten year). The Sky series when switch on during the first hour is powerful blower noise but will quiet down after sometime. Old Panasonic Quiet mode is silent but not powerful as this Sky. There is another york inverter air-con next door. It reliable and operating well except the compressor a bit noisy. Since my place the noise level is higher due to it constant traffic and the nearby super bike shop testing it super bike at high rev. My noise tolerance may be higher as I can still sleep with all those noise. It not cheap at 2K for a 1hp series. Before this, I did check out the daiki urusara 7 as it seen to be most energy star but the 1hp cost 3K and 1.5hp costing 4K. I got to skip it. I think the new panasonic econavi+inverter is cheap and good stuff without all those fancy thing and easy to maintain and clean. Save $$$ as it cost less than sky. I think this Sky series will be going the way of the panasonic robot when they raise their price soon as the aircon shop told me panasonic aircon price is going up soon.

Here is my observation of the Panasonic Sky 1hp series after using it for two month. Compared to my 10 years old Panasonic 1.5hp aircon that I replaced. I find the cooling match my old 1.5hp aircon considering it is just a 1hp. My power meter show that it use 4.5kwh/day as compared to my old at 6kwh/day and this one I use it for double the hour from 1pm - 12 midnight/day compared to the old one. It will use 800 watt when set to 26 degree and will drop to 300w when I increase it to 28 degree. The shower mode is easy on my kids and they enjoy it. If you prefer the old one, can switch to direct mode for faster cooling. I remember that time when I install the old panasonic aircon, inverter just out and people still debating to go inverter or not and I listen to the shop keeper as electricity cheap then. Now not anymore as electricity cost increase. Go inverter and go big to 1.5 hp as inverter can automatically reduce the power usage depending on the need.

Sure ar? but I don't felt much different la!
My electric bill is still hanging about RM400 per month.. didnot see any reduce at all

Is your aircon undersize or the room having leaking air that make the aircon running at it peak non-stop? If it does, it make no different as both air-con operating at it maximum watt.

Bad experience with pana.
Filter holes too big. Fins too small and soft. Gets blocked too fast and too easily. Indoor unit leak gas after 2 years.

Bad experience with all aircon coming out of oyl factory. Yes, that includes acson and daikin and York. The metal that holds the fin and earth is just normal iron and steel. Normal steel screws too. And they rust easily.
York aircon capacitor fail easily.
*
Agreed, the latest Panasonic with the sky blow above and air-intake from below is like dust magnet. The filter hole too big and all the dust choke the fin. After service - 3 month later it will choke with dust again even when cleaning the filter every weekend. Before this, I use York. It give me problem within warranty period and they came over quickly and replace the cap. a big one too. They got ready spare part of the cap as it common issue for that batch of aircon. Panasonic aircon service cost more as it required aircon tech to do extra work to remove it and longer service time. It cost me RM30/= more for service that Panasonic than my York.

Try the AC filter from Daiso. Hopefully it can cover the intake without any gaps.

Yes, already bought the Daiso aircon filter, just waiting for the serviceman to service and clean it first before install that daiso filter. I am looking to replace this unit with new haier auto cleaning 2018 model. 1.5hp = same price as this 1.0 hp panasonic sky series. Will move this unit to a room seldom use as my bed room = aircon on in the afternoon till midnight everday (12 hours). Watch the Haier auto cleaning design using frost and defrost to clean the dust away from the filter and gain 30% cooling back after draining away the dust. It popular in pakistan and india where the air is dusty. Hope it will do the same but the dust in my room look like from pillow and mattress kind of dust - a long fiber type that easy to clog filter.

Cool, what's the model? Frost defrost cleaning of the fins sounds like the R32 Hitachi premium inverter as well.
