Step size of AC is not linear.

1.5hp actually 1.3hp (12k btu class) and more suitable for the room size
Minimum should use 12k btu AC. Overworking a 1hp (9k btu) not gonna save power also. This 12k btu will work fine for sensible target temp of 25C.

If the room is very hot in daytime (like top floor or west facing) get a 2hp (18k btu class) unit. Also if you like to set at 16C freezer target temp, then get 18k btu..
*
My master bedroom is similarly sized, I was targeting for 2.5HP (based on the showroom unit installed, its the cassette unit placed center of the room) then after I read your comment, 2HP is sufficient? I usually set to 23-25C, the yellow portion are balcony windows. Facing North East (sunset problem is minimal on this room).

My bedroom is sligjhtly bigger in dimension and my AC is a 2hp for more than 10 years ..... a terrace unit facing north. Temperature is set 25/26.

If possible, avoid placing the ac directly above or facing the bed ....a cool room is more comfortable than a cold room.

notworthy.gif thanks! I'll grab a 2HP instead laugh.gif

Has anyone noticed X-Deluxe has increased in price significantly as compared to last year? I remember that I could get 1.0 around 1.2k, but now it is around 1.6k? Is there anything that I missed?
*
I don't have the prices from last year, but I just checked with a local shop for 1HP XPU RM1690 (without installation). I went with the 1HP XU instead at RM1750.

What I know the XPU now has the wi-fi built in, previously need add the device in.

The 1.5HP XPU which I have the quote from earlier this yes, vs now is 1730 vs 1960.

0.61 mm thickness is thin pipe.
Ideally follow mfg spec, Hitachi spec is 0.81 mm. But to get this in bolehland will blow your wallet as this is Inaba Denko JP territory brows.gif i would gladly pay for 0.81 mm if Acson sells it but sadly they don't doh.gif
Economically 0.71 mm Acson/Daikin is the best balance between common availability, with decent pricing although it is still slightly underspec.

Its a risk to use thin pipe because calling out the aircond installer each time costs money. Not saying it will fail immediately..but its still a risk as inverters run at high pressure. The standard installation price only cover mounting and a little bit (10ft or so) of copper piping, without hacking works. Adding niceties like SS bracket cost more. Just like nasi lemak economics, standard no frills one RM 2. Add niceties like more sotong, more chicken etc will cost more.

The short length is included FOC in std installation because those shorties are typically leftover short bits "scrap" from the pancake roll after cut for installation. The longer lengths require opening a new pancake roll which is not cheap.
*
I was quoted to add RM 80 for SS bracket 1.5HP, reasonable?

My location is less than 1km from the sea, is it worth going for SS bracket?

If you don't mind some work and are purchasing a 5 star AC unit, might as well buy separately from Lazada/Shopee and utilise the Save 2.0 RM200 discount for each AC unit.

You'll need multiple TNB accounts though i.e. your own, your dad, your mum, your brother, etc.
*
The shop I bought from actually willing to do 4 different receipts under the tnb I submit in for the RM 200 😁

You can use other people's account so long as they've not claimed for the Save 2.0 before. So ask your uncle, aunty, friend, etc.

Everyone in my family has a place of their own so I'm quite fortunate that way so can use their accounts.

I'm getting the Panasonic X-Premium so the RM200 saving a unit goes a long way when you need to get 6 or 7 units.
*
I recently just bought 4x wall mounts too, RM200 each minus for the SAVE2.0 but next year only installing laugh.gif shop agree to store for me until then. Apparently the quota is by state, and Penang one exhausted it seems.

I have a Panasonic older premium model, it would continue blowing slowly after turning off and eventually will shut off. I’m guessing it’s to reduce condensation on the fins.

Check your manual to confirm it.

Thank you so much for the kind sharing.

Guess I'll go with Panasonic but it seems like their A/C aren't what it used to be considering the recent problems people are sharing here recently?

Anyone else care to share their Panasonic A/C experience?
*
Back in 2014 replaced all the York non-inverters with Panasonic inverters, so far so good. Since I'm familiar with doing self service for Panasonic, and performance wise is alright for me I went with XU-XKH for my new home (take advantage of the save2.0 program too biggrin.gif).

I decide  arrange to install new air conditioner Panasonic cs-xpu10xkh, total damage RM1980 ( price increase 100-200🤦‍♂️)

May I ask, air conditioner need surge protector ?
*
XKH comes with built in Wi-Fi hence the price increase compared to WKH.

The shop I buy from has both stocks but well I grabbed the XKH 😅

finally got my pana x-premium installed, when i use iAUTO-X, the air cond like blasting at full power all the time and quite noisy, is it normal?

i thought it will automatic adjust the power....
*
iAUTO-X should be the "powerful" mode where the aircond redline to get you fast to the desired temperature... I think can last for 2 hours the most then revert back to normal.

Guys/Gals.
Between Panasonic CS-XPU/CS-XU or Daikin FTKU/FTKH

1) Which of this two Brand/Model are easier to dismantle, access the blower unit to DIY clean?
2) Which have a higher energy-efficient Digital Inverter that helps to reduce energy consumption?
*
I use Panasonic all the while, so basically I'm familiar with up to removing the blower. The current XPU/XU is even less steps than the older Panasonic model.

My Panasonic no fan mode? How to do that?
Yes I knew this trick but can't apply to my Panasonic, sad.

My Panasonic 2014 model, at times when you turn it off it will continue on the blower for a set of time I guess part of the feature to mitigate this jelly build up.

My master bedroom is 18' x 17' ~ 306 sqft (ceiling is 10.5' tall)

So last year actually I ordered the 2.5 HP Daikin FCF inverter cassette... but until now stocks haven't arrive la. So their distributor offered me 3HP unit instead without extra charges. Should I go for it? I mean pros is that it can cool faster on hot days, and well it likely will take up more power (less efficient) since I usually set like 24C instead of 20C.

Price diff will be few hundreds and your supplier didnt quote you 3hp for 2.5hp earlier ? 3hp also invertor ? If he is 'generous', take.

Ok, shall proceed with the free upgrade nod.gif Yes both are inverter model, same thing just different size. I ordered the 3HP for my living hall.

Hi all, I'm currently in the midst of selecting air conditioning units for my new home and shortlisted some brands with some inputs. Requesting your opinions and advice.

I'm getting 1 unit cassette 2.5/3hp
4 or 5 units split type ranging from 1hp to 2.5hp.
All inverter units

I was looking at reliability and also IOT functions via WiFi.

Brands
1. Daikin - my preferred choice however noticed that the WiFi app has pro and normal(free) subscription. New users get 2 years of pro then need to pay about rm11.99 per unit/Yr. Pro has usage monitoring and also out of home power on ac function ie out home WiFi network. I'm not a big fan of having to pay yearly subscription for an app...
2. Panasonic - I like their features, don't see any requirement for payment for app usage. Heared that their quality had dropped recent years (true?). Price is the most expensive so far.
3. Acson - contractor recommended to me saying Daikin little brother . I don't have much info on this so wanted to know if this brand has any pertinent issues? How's the app usage?
4. Hitachi - contractor informed me hitachi gives longest warranty. Wanted to know more if its a good brand, spare part availability and their IOT app review?

All opinions and advice are much appreciated

For wall mount, I went with Panasonic XU (1.5HP x2 and 1HP x1). Mainly because I’m familiar on doing simple maintenance on Panasonic and for the price it has the best features compared to Daikin, the streamer is only on the Smarto series which is much higher priced.

Cassette then this is first time I’m using for home, went with Daikin R32 inverter 3HP x2 and one 2HP x1 (mainly going for the black frame for one of the blacked out room). Supposedly gotten the 2.5HP for the room but… stock issue 🥲. Daikin 2HP to 3HP uses the thicker copper pipe compared to other brands of cassette inverters.
