1 aircond draw 3.91 Amp, and we know 2.5mm cable can safely carry current up to 15Amp, so can i install 2 aircond using same cable?

Not recommended.. At least By Suruhanjaya Tenaga regulations a motor is independently on its own circuit breaker ..

Refer Electrical Accessories Chapt 6.1.ix electric motors shall be connected permanently to a 20A/30A rated circuit breaker/fuse together with an isolator, motor starter and 15A socket outlet. The motor outlet shall be Direct-On-Line type with the appliance together with the contactor, overload relay and on-off control. The circuit breaker/fuse which controls the motor circuit shall be capable of withstanding the starting current of the motor..

Hi,

do you have any sample bill usage calculation for inverter vs normal aircond? i.e normal usage 9pm to 6am daily. how much we can save using inverter?
*
I remember working it out but that was too long ago and I'm too lazy to look it up so you'll have to do it yourself..

Look for the Malaysian Energy Star ratings .. Goggle it up .. either web sites, shops where the tags are hung

Look for the Annual average energy usage for an inverter and a non-inverter of an electrical appliance of your choice..

The difference is the savings and ROI..

Have fun..

Hi,
well, apparently 2 out of 3 electrician that came to my house for the price quote, they insisted that 2.5mm cable is more than capable of carrying two 1HP aircond, as 2.5mm rated amp is 15-20A.

*
Edit* The electrician is either not properly trained or not telling you the whole truth..

All breakers are rated to the maximum demand current which is the starting current.. not the running current..

Sooner or later that breaker will fail, will not trip, start a short circuit melting that wire and burn ..

It's easier to comply to the ST's recommendations..

What is the break even point/durations of using an inverter air conditioner to repay back using the TNB bill savings for the initial high cost of buying an inverter compare to use a non inverter air conditioner?

In other words, what is the ROI of an inverter air conditioner purchase?
*
Based on Suruhanjaya Tenaga 5-STAR stickers at a shopping mall in kk,

Panasonic 1.5hp 5 star RM1699 1918 kWh/year

Panasonic 1.5hp 2 star RM1629 3851 kWh/year

Initial cost difference rm70

ROI @rm0.45 kWh =>RM70/0.45 => 156 hrs

Buying a 5 star vs a 2 star ROI => 0.5 months

So it depends on how much you're paying for your electricity

Yes because the running costs of the inverter type Aircon is lower your savings outweighs the initial purchase price
