Hi all,

is the piping for 2hp can be used for 2.5hp?

how many type of piping is there for different hp of aircon?
*
There are at least 3 diff pipe size for the Gas pipe.
For example: see https://www.daikin.com.my/daikin_products/ftn-p-series/

You need to see if the pipe for 2hp is the same as the one for the 2.5 you wanna install.

Hi, I notice 1.5hp and 2hp use same copper pipe size while 2.5hp use bigger pipe.

My was installed with piping for 2hp. I told my contractor who did the piping for me that I want to install 2.5hp. He said he can change the piping to 2.5hp...

I was told that he can change it without hacking. Is that possible that he can do it without hacking and conceal again? Need to replace a new copper pipe for 2.5hp rite?

Just found out this Daikin FTV-P series:
https://www.daikin.com.my/daikin_products/ftv-p-series/
surprisingly their 2.5hp and 2hp (for R32) using the same piping (12.7 instead of 15.88).
*
Well since you can reuse the 12.7 mm piping with that model, I'd say go for it, since it's already specced for that.

Hi all,
Do anyone know what is the idea distance for the aircon drainage pipe, how much distance of vertical should it go before the pipe is install horizontal?
is it a good way to this amount of distance as shown in pictures?
user posted image
or is this type of distance is good
user posted image
thanks
*
Ideally, try to have the horizontal one sloping more so that water doesn't collect inside. In other words try not to have it perfectly flat.
The distance doesn't really matter as it is not pressurised (like the gas pipes).

Anyone got experience daikin multi split?

Hows the

1)power consumption
2) is ok and wise to get to save and maintain compressor?
3) hows the life span?
*
Multi split more commonly found in SG. Mostly they use Mitsu Starmex system there.

Im still in dilemma whether to get a cheaper Haier inverter or a good brand like Daikin/LG inverter.

Its for office use btw. A lot of offices i saw using cheaper ones & non inverter ones.

Any opinions?
*
If using everyday get a good inverter with high EER rating (12+). save on power bill and longer lasting.

If installed in a room that only use for 3 days in a year, no need inverter lah. laugh.gif

Personally if paying good moneh, I would recommend Daikin/Mitsu/Hitachi (older series). Sharp also can consider if EER is good, but may need to upsize as the BTU/h a bit low.

Developer giving this piping. Can I use 1hp for bedroom 2&3? And 1.5hp for master? Or do I have to change hose and piping?
*
Should be okay unless the piping length is very long. Ur pipes are a little oversized than common spec 1.0/1.5hp 9mm/6mm

It’s not that i doubt the seller. But i am not so confident of how logistic people handle the air-conditioner. At least physical shop will have their own people to deliver and you can complaint directly to them if there is damage to the item delivered.

And yeah i bought plenty of things online including recently my RM1,111 built in microwave oven. But buying item like aircond online is different level.
*
You are right. I bought a few aircons:
1. I self collect myself from physical shop, box is perfect.
2. Buy online 11.11 lzd sale, seller use their own partners' fleet (aka moonlighting lorry driver), box also perfect.
3. Buy online 11.11 lzd sale, this one use standard courier SxxNet, box got squashed, fins got compressed, now need to order fin comb to fix ranting.gif

Tried but unable to get the error code also.

I suspect the wiring is incorrect. Any pro here can verify my connection? ☺️🙏

OMG
1. there will be two sets of wires, one row for indoor, another row for outdoor, please follow the colour code for wiring all the way else it will pose as a hazard to the next guy who service your aircon. Its just like traffic lights, red means stop, red cannot mean go.
2. That red wire is stripped (exposed) too much.

the old model RAS-SX10CJ better than the CKM in terms of cooling capacity (BTU/h) and EER

how much u pay in total?
i feel expensive...But need to see the spec as well.
Hitachi for me is a new brand in this aircond industry....
can share contact?
*
So far hitachi never disappointed me since I was a kid till now. Now hitachi is JV with JCI (Johnson Controls).

Basically pricing, you can check online easily.
Spec sheet, also can see online easily.
Marketing hype (more advertisements) and salesman commission sometimes not correlated with actual product lifespan.

Cheap AC 1hp, maybe 9000-9200 btu/h only, EER not that great ~9-10
Expensive one, you should be looking at 9700 btu/h, good EER rating >12

Are inverter airconds less powerful/less cooling than non-inverter ones?
*
For same hp, one got gearbox, the other run at single gear only.
Think of it as MTB with gears vs cheapo bicycle, MTB can change gear according to the load (u can go uphill easily) whereas cheapo bicycle you will suffer.
The amount of suffering also translated to higher electric bill.

Running an inverter at low speed is better for dehumidifying the room constantly so it will feel cooler. Non inverter operate some time on some time off gives a stuffy feel.
Most people are too used to the overcooling of non-inverter - hence the feeling is not cold. This is because the on off switch operation of non inverter (if you set to 25C) it will overwork until 22C, then it turn off, once sense 26-27C it will work at full speed to cool it down to 22C, then repeat again and again.

measured my panasonic r22 2010 1hp non inverter ac.
3.12A at the outdoor unit.

3.12x230=717.6W

i used a cheap clamp meter, so can't tell if it's super accurate.
*
Sounds about there for 1hp.
My office 5hp non inverter (old unit, defo not R32) is around 16A on kyoritsu true rms.

AC installation normally come with 10ft free piping.

Longer than that they will charge you per feet run.

I am currently renovation my house and I have 3 airconds to be fixed i.e 2HP and 2 units of 1HP.

The aircond man charged me RM400 for 2HP for just the piping and concealed and RM380 for 1HP.

When the renovation is done and when I buy the aircond, I need to pay again for fixing the aircond.

Am I being conned?
*
CODE

different brand have different piping size one

1.0 hp copper pipe size 1/4" + 3/8"
1/4" + 1/2" 1.5hp york, 1.5hp n 2.0hp for pana.
1/4" + 5/8", 2.0hp n 2.5 hp york, 2.5 for panasonic
3/8" + 3/4" for 3.0hp

Assuming you are using length of 27ft (9m); I will assume 15m copper piping (megatube/acson) around these pricings for 15m on shopee
1/4 53
3/8 83
1/2 113
5/8 152

So for your 2hp is either 113+53 or 83+53
for your 1hp units is (83+53) x2
plus insulation of 17ft give or take RM10 for smaller pipe until RM30 for 3/8 pipe

Not expensive actually but wont be cheap if you need to add on more later. My neighbour was charged 2k plus just to install two air conds in 800sf apartment. rclxub.gif
You will need the aircon bracket (there's stainless steel ones available if you wanna source yourself) vs the typical (soon-to-be)rusty iron black frame the aircon guy will wanna sell you

1hp sufficient for normal use.

Normal use = temperature around 25C +/-

If you want to buy AC to use as freezer = temperature around 16C, get 1.5hp

I feel you man. My aircon also died due to lightning, keep on blinking red light error. And cannot log warranty claim because the manufacturer is not open due to MCO.
