Anyone uses 1-way cassette aircon? So far I see only Samsung has it. Daikin/Mitsubishi has one but it's for VRF (kitchen/bathroom areas only).

Looks minimalist/clean. And no need to open hole for servicing (just my guess).

Just don't know how it compares to the standard 4-way one.

Choose big China brands that specialize in HVAC, Midea & Haier. These 2 companies are larger than Sharp many folds, Midea acquired Toshiba home appliances division. And Haier acquired Sanyo many years ago. These two giants made many HVAC acquisitions globally. And they are so big, have a lot of budget in R&D.

I’ve own Haier, Midea and Hisense. Haier entry level is very entry level — I won’t choose it. The basic inverter seems not bad. Hisense low end is very well made and punch above its weight — always my recommended basic cheapest entry level, I have 4 of these. Midea high end was quite disappointing for me, but this was from few years back.

I’d suggest taking a good look at Midea and Haier as they are both branded as far as HVAC go, especially Haier that started the business making AC before becoming the giant they are today in various appliances.

Between this 3, having owned all 3 brands, I will choose the cheapest inverter with longest warranty. And won’t worry about it. Despite my comments.. all 3 of them cool way better than any Panasonic I own.

If I win a Panasonic inverter in a lucky draw for my new house. I will sell the Panasonic to a sucker who thinks it is branded, and buy a Haier/Hisense/Acson inverter and install in my own room, and pocket the change.

Hi Jason, saw your previous posts about the major CHina brands AC... Currently considering Haier or Hisense.

Been using panasonic both inverter and non-inverter in my current house, reliable so far but not impressed with the cooling performance. I have to set to 22 degree minimum. Was considering Acson or Daikin but both were really expensive.. And even Acson Reino / Daikin FTKF series I saw some other forumers say not great.

Planning to get Hisense of Haier mid range inverter which is either 4-5 stars rated. Is hisense still come with noisy compressor even for the mid or higher tier? Not sure which of the 2 brands to go with.

EDIT: also considering Midea now after reading more - the wifi app seems to be able to integrate well with Home Assistant and overall seems reliable.

I have 2 units of Hisense inverter, the compressor is indeed noisy, some kind of bearing vibration noise.

Hi guys
Looking to purchase my first aircond to be installed in my room (weather so hot to the point I lie down on my bed at 11pm, bed's warm and I'm all sweaty in a minute, bad sleeps recently)

Currently top choice is Daikin ftkp35av1mf

Looking to get an aircond with 5 star energy rating, 1.5hp, in 2500 bucks

Any better suggestions?

How big is your room? Maybe 1hp enough?

I did my rough research, seems like higher btu is better as the aircond won't get strained all the time, better and efficient cooling thus better lifespan

1.5 is like the sweet spot, I might be wrong though

1. I only have experience with Midea inverter from 2016, experience not great. Out of 3 units 1 died and since passed the compressor warranty I just gotten a Haier inverter to replace end of last year. Not long enough experience to say Haier inverter good or not.

2. I advocate cheapest non-inverter Haier & Hisense cause that’s what I have/own. Yes, Hisense most basic model outdoor compressor is noisier than Panasonic inverter.

3. Best you compare spec sheets to look at dB of the outdoor unit. Too many models to compare.

4. My Mitsubishi Electric JR non inverter is also quite noisy in a back to back installation for my gym room. So being able to identify the installation spot also matters.

If it’s mission critical area e.g bedroom I advocate inverter for better temperature regulation and going with Acson if the price difference isn’t significantly more than Hisense/Haier/Midea. No point choosing the China mari if there’s no savings.

Very expensive. China 1.5HP inverters ~RM1.5k can find. I bought my Panasonic 2HP inverter CS-S18TKH for RM2580 in 2018. So 2500 for 1.5hp is quite expensive. I added the dongle for WiFi for RM199. If you’re willing to spend then sure.

Yes for inverter oversize is fine. Look at the btu output range. It can mimic a 1hp even tho it’s a 1.5hp. Just don’t oversize too far. If 1hp already too big for the room, 1.5hp inverter won’t help.

Thanks, for living room AC (seldom switch on) I will go with Hisense or Haier non-inverter most likely. But for bedroom that is used daily, I have made my mind on Mitsubishi Electric Mr Slim JS. Seems to be quite reliable, easy to clean, not as expensive as Daikin, quiet.

I also saw projects on how to use a ESP32/ESP8266 to integrate with home assistant.. perfect for my usage. Can control using wifi easily.

Thanks for your input. I'm looking for the ones that's energy efficient and lasts long without all the dramas, price wise a little pricy is fine as long it fits the two mentioned criteria, would like to know what brand/model would you recommend?

Preferably 5 star energy rating and 1.5hp

Why are you installing them inside? Didnt you received velcro tape to secure the filter on the casing of the ac?

If large living room better 1.5hp and 1hp. Saw this setup at my in-law place, the 1.5hp enough to cool down efficiently but if there are many guests around or really hot day, they fire up the 1hp as well.

Mission critical (bedroom, daily use, power efficient) I would go for Acson = Daikin, whichever is cheaper. Reason being the spare parts will be available for many years to come since it’s made locally (most models la, not sure if all made locally). And reliability is proven with solid track record.

I have a York cooling king concealed 2.5hp, manufactured in 2009 stated on the compressor and still supported today by Acson (OYL).

Most importantly, I would get Acson authorized technician to install it. Best aircon installed poorly = rubbish. These days even my cheap aircon, I engage Acson authorized technician to install.

I also recommend WiFi control.. I find it useful. Usually I turn on my AC 20mins before I go up to my room. Have to la my Panasonic damn slow to cool the room. If I choose again today I confirm won’t buy Panasonic.

1x 2HP.

But depends on layout.

My living and dining adjacent to each other. 2.5hp and 2hp respectively. But I rarely turn both on at the same time. Airflow and direction also matters.

Of course turning on the 2.5hp, the temperature setting is 2C higher than the 2hp.

It really depends on your layout. For example my living room I installed a 2.0HP. When I did my analysis on paper it would be more than enough to cool down the living room + dining room. But in reality, my dining room can get a little stuffy even though I have turned on my aircond due to the orientation of the aircond, which is not facing the direction of my dining room.

Noisy? I dont hear any sound after placing it on the case and I dont see any reason why it would create sound.

Some 1.5hp BTU is not much different from 1.0hp BTU.
