Hi, this is the allocated area to fix my 2.5hp aircond. The height seems to be just nice.

Is it a MUST to open up the plaster ceiling above (gap) just to fix the AC? Can't fix as it is?

I'm exploring other options as cutting and re-patching the plaster ceiling is my last resort..

Actually for renting a unit, initially I was telling myself that I will only go for the unit that has inverter aircons installed but ultimately I compromise this req because I want to rent the unit.

2 years later come rent my unit. Very rare rental unit got inverters. I wanted to own stay that unit… then change mind and rent out. That’s why got inverter for all 3 bedrooms. 2 Midea and 1 Haier.

The reason I shortlisted Sharp 1hp inverter is due to budget constraints. Seems like the cheapest "branded" 1hp inverter at the moment.

Hmm, so would you recommend a 1.5HP inverter with 4 stars instead? The TCL 1.5hp inverter is the same price as the Sharp 1hp inv.
*
Yes, I would recommend a 1.5hp inverter over a branded 1hp inverter any time of day. If you consider Japanese brands as “branded”, I tend to disagree with that thinking these days.

Choose big China brands that specialize in HVAC, Midea & Haier. These 2 companies are larger than Sharp many folds, Midea acquired Toshiba home appliances division. And Haier acquired Sanyo many years ago. These two giants made many HVAC acquisitions globally. And they are so big, have a lot of budget in R&D.

I’ve own Haier, Midea and Hisense. Haier entry level is very entry level — I won’t choose it. The basic inverter seems not bad. Hisense low end is very well made and punch above its weight — always my recommended basic cheapest entry level, I have 4 of these. Midea high end was quite disappointing for me, but this was from few years back.

I’d suggest taking a good look at Midea and Haier as they are both branded as far as HVAC go, especially Haier that started the business making AC before becoming the giant they are today in various appliances.

Between this 3, having owned all 3 brands, I will choose the cheapest inverter with longest warranty. And won’t worry about it. Despite my comments.. all 3 of them cool way better than any Panasonic I own.

If I win a Panasonic inverter in a lucky draw for my new house. I will sell the Panasonic to a sucker who thinks it is branded, and buy a Haier/Hisense/Acson inverter and install in my own room, and pocket the change.

Of course, Sharp is a solid choice if there’s limited space for compressor — which is also how I know because my friend hunted high and low for air con that fit and found Sharp.

I’m no expert but looking at your picture my answer is a solid yes. You want specialist, engage Acson authorized dealers to come install for you. I know they service third party AC. Not sure if they will install third party AC.

2.5 hp units are larger than 2hp and 1.5hp in all dimensions. Length, height and depth. Im not even sure if it’ll fit. You would need a very short unit in terms of height. Better you measure that space and find the AC indoor unit that fit. My Hisense 2.5hp confirm won’t fit that space

Wall split units need a bit of clearance on the top of it…

In a set of an inverter outdoor unit there's this few items

1. Inverter PCB
2. ODU fan motor
3. Inverter compressor
4. EEV/Capillary tube
5. Thermistor

1, 2, 4, 5 mostly cover in 1 year warranty

3 cover 5 years warranty

No way your A/C will fit into that without modify your plaster ceiling.

hi, finally my mhi unit broke down after 10+yr. Flashing six times so should be pcb board gone.

My aircond guy recommend me take panasonic if wan inverter, but the cost is like more than half of the other china brand. He said panasonic inverter less problem and more spare parts.

But i am open to option:
Hisense 1.5HP R32 Inverter Air Conditioner (TU) HSE-AI13TUGS Senq rm1699

Panasonic X-Premium Inverter R32 1.5HP Air Conditioner CS-XU13ZKH-1 Rm3.2k
x-deluxe 1.5 inverter rm2299

Or any other brand can recommend

After encounter countless of problems with my Panasonic, I'll never recommend this brand anymore. Even the technician that came to fix the a/c also tell me not to buy Panasonic.

Hehe, dun mean to say branded item no good, probably they breaks / spoilt easily, that's why their spare parts are easier to get smile.gif

I saw AUX brand, they provide 3,4,5 years warranty.

3 years general warranty,
4 years PCB warranty,
5 years compressor warranty

Any AUX brand user here ? Mind to share your experience ?

Thx

QUOTE(Jason @ Jun 25 2024, 11:50 AM)
I think these days maybe not, Panasonic prices are nuts. My concern around ME is that they don't sell as many units versus Panasonic, Acson/Daikin which worries me if they have sufficient spare parts, and worse, if they exit the market in Malaysia due to stiff competition from China.

I have one ME JR in guest room downstairs, seldom used. But a/c is better than Pansonic in terms of max cooling from the moment you turn it on. Versus Hisense right outside the room in the hall, the cooling is comparable. But Hisense compressor is noisier for sure which is not an issue if it is far away.

Chose ME because it is a back to back installation for the compressor, and since it is a room, decided to try ME as the spec sheet looks good. True enough the compressor is relatively quieter than Hisense.

Still Hisense basic entry model is the unbeatable king in terms of value if compressor noise not an issue. I am however curious about ME spare parts in MY. I was able to source spare parts for my York air con manufactured in 2009 from Acson, which goes to show the support is unbelievable.

For long term applications, or daily use like bedroom, may be worthwhile to get Acson / Daikin over Hisense, especially if getting inverter which I highly recommend for bedrooms. Halls where the cool air will travel out and the air con will be working on full tilt, I don't feel the need for inverter to regulate temperature.

I used to be a Panasonic air con supporter but their price keep increasing, and adding all the useless features and the initial cooling is terrible as the air con wants to save electricity.. I see no reason for it. But Panasonic compressor also relatively quiet lah..

Enclosed room, esp. bedroom, get inverter: Acson / Daikin
Open hall, air escape, no need inverter, get the cheapest entry level Hisense
For office, business... Acson / Daikin non-inverter.. due to crazy spare part support for long term

And more importantly learn how to use dry mode, on/off timer on the air con.

Hisense Entry level Cheapest the model is what name ya?
I looked around Shopee, isit that AN09?

Haven't quite figure out where is best to buy Air-Conds, just looking around Shopee for price reference.
