Please try to compare again now.
Basically, non-inverter model has higher (50-130W) peak power consumption than other models.
That means even we run both in peak mode, users can enjoy better cooling experience and lower electricity bill.

The initial discussion was about saving electricity bill cost.
The purchasing cost was not considered.
If this has to be considered, please also factor in the gained features (fast cooling, ionizer, connectivity, etc) and experience (cooling effect).
Your formula can become (btu/watt + features + experience)/RM ratio.

The only cost concern is the part replacement for inverter models is significantly higher.
More features also mean more things can fail.
But this reliability can be subjected to brand, maintenance, installation, usage and etc.

Thanks for the input.
I got 2units of 9000btu Daikin standard this time. Will consider inverter if bedroom ac die next time.

Another separate question. Is it normal for AC not so cool when it rains? I need to lower the temperature n fan up when raining. A few of AC units even the new ones. Got to do with the humidity level? Should set AC on Dry instead?

Thanks again guys.
Cheers...!

When it rains, the cooling efficiency actually increases because the rainwater and the drop in outside tempetature helps to cool the ODU which make this heat transfer as efficient as possible.

On a hot day, the reverse happens, the heat transfer becomes less efficient, hence it takes a longer time to cool the room.

That the reason why the room is colder in the early morning even on a hot day.

You can test by having a digital thermometer in the room. On both occasion, you can record how long it takes to cool down the room at determine temperature.

On the side note, your AC may be under power to your room size.

Or is it mind over matter ?

Can we service air cond already?

My air cond motor seems to be running all the time even though I have switched it off via the controller. And there’s still something running in the air cond with air flow.

The only way to stop it is to switch off the main switch from the wall. And the moment I switch on the main switc, it starts again. There’s no light or whatsoever on the unit, even the flap hasn’t been opened until I click on the remote control, just the motor running inside.

Is this a major issue? Do I need to look into new replacement unit?

Could be PCB faulty (does not respect the OFF state); because the indoor (IDU) blower fan should only operate when it is in ON state.

Why PCBs go bad?
PCB can go wonky over time (electronic failure), or it could have been overvolted by lightining surge (if u did not cut power to it using the switch box but just off using remote).

For 'temp' measures try few strong knocks on the casing and whether it stops.

Unless technician have ready parts, nothing can be done until manufacturer resume operations.

What type of noise ?

Vibration or rattling ?

If is still cold, why change ? Try to solve diy if you can access it. It could be one of the loosen screw or try place a rubber padding between the compressor and the bracket holder.

DAIKIN, 1.5HP Inverter "L5" error code.
Just to update my problem with this issue.
Again my unit is less than 2 yrs.
My unit will auto shut of middle of the night and indicate L5 error.
Then I realize, if I set temp to 27C...the unit will shut off in about 1 hr.
Set to 26C,....probably it will shut off in abt 2 hrs... Set to 24C then can last till about 4 hrs...and so on.
The DAIKIN technician verified that the inverter PCB is faulty.
Less than 2 yrs old unit already behave this way.

I also gave up on those technicians. Most of my AC I diy including normal sevicing as I can also access all outdoor units. The last I called a good technician was fews years ago and went mia when wanted to consult him.

The 2nd unit was probably an foc from previous owner. He did some minor repair and then sell it. Some give 1 week, 1 month or max 3 months warranty. If it dont breakdown during warranty period, then he makes more money or he never pick up your call again.

Sori, cant help. Hope other forumers can recommend.

Nowadays condo SOP very strict. . MITI letter is the main criteria to allow technician/contractor to enter condo for doing work. Unfortunately most of them are freelance.. they do not have MITI letter... very headache to bring them in for work.

Guys, any feedback on sharp aircond? Looking for a cheap non-inverter unit. Most important for me is less maintenance and reliable.

Currently looking at model aha9xcd - https://my.sharp/products/air-care/10hp-r32...-aha9xcd?v=1448

Reliable AC is about regular maintenance. The best AC will eventually breakdown if owner stinge on it.

Experience technicians / installer plays an important role.

Sharp is ok as I know few users being using for a long time. Like any brands, if you received a lemon unit, too bad.

My inverter Daikin behaves the same, where the aircon doesn't cool so much when outdoor temperature is (suddenly) cooler. Smart or not is to be debated. Measured temperature from blower increases, so I usually need to turn the temperature lower to maintain it for a while.

I dont think maintenance is the issue here. Sensor is not expensive.
