Bible DevotionDon't stay StagnantQUOTE
Mark 4:25 (NIV) - Whoever has will be given more, and they will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them.
I've always been intrigued by this passage in the Bible;
Whoever has will be given more, and they will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them. What in the world does it mean? Whoever has will be given more and whoever does not, will be taken. Is it talking about Salvation? Is it talking about works of the kingdom?
I've prayed about it and even tried to link it to my everyday life.
Here is what God is saying.
Stay actively engaged in the things of God's Kingdom. Invest your time and life in it. Because by your engagement in your Christian life, Either you'll grow in "growth" spiritually or you'll grow cold and stagnant. Even Neutrality is spiritual death, a place of no growth.
It's true you know? When you don't engage yourself in the live of living the Kingdom Life, the tendency to forget about God, about your Salvation is very great.So great and powerful is the danger, Jesus says, Even what you have will be taken. The Seed is first sown by the preaching of God's word. What you do with it, will determine the truth of this passage.
If you do nothing about it, the one who takes it away is Satan, Not God. Read the Parable of the sower in the synoptic gospel to understand who does the taking away. It is consistently the same. Then you will understand what Jesus meant in the book of Luke when this same passage is repeated in chapter 19, the parables of the ten minas. God is always in the giving business being the position of the Blesser. Satan is always the one who does the stealing.
However with that being said, you don't have to worry about the growing. You cannot cause anything to grow. The only one who cause anything to grow is Jesus, the true vine, not you.
Your part is to constantly stay engaged. That's all. Stay in God's Love, stay in his presence. Don't go far. He loves you. When you stay connected, God will grow what is given to you.
Know that, Your Sins have been dealt with at the cross. Believe it and Confess it. Understand that God is not angry at you. He is the Father, always waiting for you even when you have the wrong ideas about Him, thinking He is displeased with you. He is still there waiting for you to come Home, to get back in touch, to get back connected.
Having in abundance here refers to the entire context of Salvation. It's your wholeness, your healing, your providence, your protection, the Power of God working on your behalf, The Anointing on your life, the fruits of the Holy Spirit, etc. It is not just eternal life. The words in the Bible are the seeds that causes all this to manifest in the physical realm that we live in. You know Jesus did say those who have ears let him hear? That is how it starts. The word of God.
In summary, To have more in abundance as in the passage above is to stay engage, to move on, to forget what is behind, even if you failed just moments ago. It doesn't take much to get Father God running to you. Just your simple faith. When you have, more will and more will be given until it becomes and abundance. Our God is an extremely good God.
Amen? God Bless.
