Guys, I have an important question, kinda searched around the forums but no one seemed to take note. Will be posting it in the two camry hybrid threads for max effect.
How do you guys warm-up the petrol engine since the car usually starts in EV mode? Especially cold starts when all the oil is down at the sump and not at the cylinders/pistons. Isn't it damaging to the petrol engine when it starts abruptly just to take the load without even warming up the lubricating oil and spreading the lubricant in the engine? Is there a way to force the petrol engine to turn on when you start the car? Or has toyota have a hidden solution that we're not aware of to that issue? |

QUOTE(JamesBotak @ Feb 16 2016, 03:26 PM) No one seemed to take note ? LOL ! There is no reason/importance to take note of such thing if you own a Hybrid car. Betul meh? Since fuel injection? BMW dulu semua ada dynamic rev-o-meter that showed the limit of revving/driving allowed when engine is cold, how about that? You should have not even bought a Hybrid car if this is what you have in mind. Warming up is NOT needed anymore in modern vehicle (vehicles that uses Fuel Injection) what's more a Hybrid vehicles that uses HSD (Hybrid Synergy Drive) Are you even aware that the Camry Hybrid uses a 0-20W Engine Oil ? There is a reason why the Engine Oil used in Hybrid cars has a viscosity that is very "thin" compared to non Hybrid cars. Good Luck in finding a way to force start the ICE (Internal Combustion Engine). There is a unwritten rule that no matter what engine or lubricant, you still need 30 secs minimum to let the oil spread around the engine before giving it load... Tanya saja bang, I n00b in hybrid, I just know my straight 6 engines. Sorry kalao offended you in anyway.. |

Hey guys, I'm going to pick up my car this week. Any tips for engine run in? I didn't see anything about running in the engine from the US Hybrid manual (couldn't find Malaysian manual online). Any tips and hints appreciated. Cheers!!!

QUOTE(kaldan @ Feb 11 2017, 11:14 PM) Anyone face very obvious jerk when the car switch from EV to petrol engine to charge the battery? Feels like the whole car is moving forward. Yes if you're on Parking Gear and your handbrake is on/off. But no worries le, about 1-2 inches jerk je, unless you betul2 cucuk someone then kena la |

Well guys, I just want to liven up this thread cause can say almost mati already.
So this is my experience of owning the car for less than a year (but around 60k++ km, yes I travel alot) 1. Comfort is there but due to tyre size, it's not perfect. 2. Wind noise is bad at cruise speeds due to side mirror design, gibon door sound insulation rubber helps abit, but I lost mine as it came out 3. EV to Engine/Charge jerk is obvious and abit scary when car is stationary at P (even with handbrake engaged) and mildly obvious when you're at around 70-80kmh 4. Power is there, but sadly limited to 195km/h, I've yet to see any car workshop being able to bypass this top speed limiter. 5. You can't enjoy the JBL sound system if you use the usb/radio, use your phone/bluetooth and run good music apps (eQu for iOS and jetaudio for android), use equalizers and feel that bass babeh. 5. Door rattling has begun, but mostly my bad cause I love to blast music in the car (level 43-53), must send back to SC to get it fixed. 6. Regenerative braking is fun and rewarding, but dangerous during peak hours as you'll instinctively not slam the brakes hard enough lol. 7. No complains on handling, it's a big car after all, I only use it on the highways flying all the time And now, what i've seen other users do to their hybrids; 1. 19" rims and body kits 2. Aftermarket suspensions and coil overs, reduce height to almost VIP style 3. Dual exhaust (i don't know why) 4. Ultra racing bars Sekian dan semoga berjaya. |

Anyone joined the facebook group ah? Wanting to see if there are any performance mods for this car, I don't have facebook le...
As far as I know got Ultra Racing bars and someone did a dual exhaust setup for the car. Any options for; Brakes Suspension (Springs & Absorbers) Air filter Spark Plugs Flywheel Exhaust (manifold setup) ECU remap (remove that silly 195kmh speed limit) I always do Penang-KL-Johor, wishing car can go faster, I always drive around 3am-5am like that, very little cars on the road, only heavy vehicles. |
