I applied for CIMB cash rebate card. Why they send me 2 cards? zzz

QUOTE(cdspins @ Jul 24 2015, 08:50 AM)
It is common practice, they want to push sale, just don't activate the other card you don't need
*
Sorry but that is a poor advice. If the other card is a credit card which he did not apply for, he should not just leave it and not activate it. The only reason banks are still doing this because people think it is okay to do so.

One of it is the card I applied for, the mastercard cash rebate.

The other one, I am not sure what it is. It's silver but no cash rebate word on it.

Any visa or mastercard logo?

never realize there is such a promo...

question....
i tried to book a hotel that is under this promotion eligible....but when I was at the payment details page, after filling in the CIMB card details...the price shown is still the same as if we book through www.agoda.com..... do we get the 7% rebate right away when we complete the booking at agoda.com, or how?

i assume there is no maximum capped for this 7% rebate right?

after you key in your card number, the discount will be reflected at the right side panel

How to deal with it?
Lodge a complain using which channel? Can you guide me how to cancel it.

I just saw this card appear in my cimbclick. I got CIMB Cash Rebate platinum by invitation through call. They included this card too without even tell me it's another credit card will be send separately. Soo unclean movement by CIMB.
*
Meaning you currently having 2 credits cards but you only applied for 1?

I called their card centre to cancel, it was removed from my Clicks in 2-3 days

orite.. i will give a call soon too to cancel it. thx for your guide smile.gif

and this is the very reason the banks/agents keep doing this because victims choose to just cancel or let it be without lodging a complaint.

If you are still interested to take action:

bnmtelelink@bnm.gov.my

Dear Bank Negara,

I have applied for card A only from bank XYZ but the bank sent an additional card B which violates Bank Negara's regulation.

I applied through telemarketing (phone number, date, time). The bank should be able to provide the phone recording as evidence.

Please take stern action on this matter.

Thank you
Name
IC No
Address
CC Number
That is the basic version. If I am the victim, I would demand for the bank to withdraw the card with immediate effect and to list what are the steps taken to ensure that this does not happen again.

I lodged a complaint to BNM regarding this issue ( Apply for 1, get 2 or 3 instead ).

Till today heard nothing from them.

I also lodged another report regarding errand merchants who are forcing people to use a certain amount / merchant who charges % on CC usages.

Again, no reply.

Am a little disappointed that the regulatory body is not doing enough to curb such behaviors.
*
Few years ago, first time I emailed to BNM, it is the same too. No reply. Then I sent another email lambasting them. Since then, they always respond to my emails. I think I have engaged them for more than 30 cases. Sometimes, I will send a polite (really polite, no shooting) reminder email if there is no response after 2-3 days.

My recent email to Bank negara in June, the reply email did not reach my inbox. I found this out because I sent a reminder and then one BNM officer called me back. She was asking why I never respond to her earlier email. When I told her I receive nothing, she said will check with the technical department. So maybe it is the same technical problem, try sending using a different email provider. I used gmail.

I currently hold the Visa Signature and World Mastercard from CIMB.

Lately I notice I hardly use them for anything (no benefits that I know off) except to buy stuff from Eraman in KLIA/KLIA2 for the 15% discount.

As such, I'm thinking of cancelling the Visa Signature (cause I have the same card form Public Bank with much more cashback).

So.... just asking the sifus here for advice, if you wanted to cancel one, which of it would you guys cancel? (The Visa looks better then the master visually tongue.gif)

clear winner is PBB VS. CIMB VS only wins in appearance.

The minimum requirement is still attainable for 21k per month, there are tonnes of managers at that level but to spend at least RM 1 million to waive its AF, I really doubt so. sweat.gif

usually for this kind of cards, they dont state the amount..by invitation only biggrin.gif

Got a scam SMS this morning saying someone has used my CIMB cc to buy something worth 4k at KLIA2. Funny thing is I don't own a CIMB cc.

the SMS was from 63633, I always thought SMS from these numbers are legit. hmm.gif

I actually called the scammer phone number provided. I was directed to a chinese guy speaking malay straight away. i felt odd initially since i was not given any language option but i thought i must have pressed wrongly since i just woke up. then i asked the guy to transfer me to an english speaking operator but he told me they were all busy at that time and he could speak malay and chinese. i said nvm, will call back. then i called to the same number again and i realised there was really no language option and again i got to the same guy. i immediately put down the phone and called cimb hotline instead and was told it was a scam.

Good that you take action. Quite scary it can come from the sms no.
