I thought so too, but the GPS stream shows lots of data "coming in" or streaming into my PDA. Anyway, how to manually log on to the satellite?
*
click GPS (satellite pic)
wait till you get at least 3 blue bars (more is better)
then you get a "lock" on to the sats
blinking of red dot ( i think) on the world map ( your real location)
thats the indication your GPS is working at optimum level.
and there is a voice informing you, " Your GPS is now on" when there is a full lock
but you need to get outdoor to be able the sats to pick up your gps handheld/pda

i think reinstall the software first & see how;
or the gps module has gone kaput ( i could be wrong as i m not that an expert)

visit your pda shop and ask for opinions will be the better move
if after reinstall still cant get a lock on

check COM ports whether its the correct figure
(some one mentioned you can get it auto detect), try it too

googlemaps on gps...will incur charges
if not you can try when you have free wifi available

or...use it while your on activesync (i just tested), it will use your home's modem connection (streamyx or etc),
it won't connect via GPRS/3G

with a BT gps...its easier can keep in the car
and i think as a stand alone, its receiver should be more powerful than built in pda?

but need an adapter (2 socket) to charge the gps 2gether with the pda right?

glad you like it;
standalone is much dependable
response is much quicker
for a person like me hardly go travel
GPS in built Pda is sufficiently and no complains

anyone tried using the "google mobile map"? if not mistaken the google mobile map now can do "routing" without using the GPS. But anyone used it with GPS + google mobile map?

i tried many times.
but it will incur charges, no?

unless plug in to broadband modem

only one time my gps gave me headache when
i trying to to dataran merdeka/national Historic Muzium.
it gave me direction heading to Lake nearby/parliment
twice i tried it lead me there.
it was a big round to return to the traffic light area.by the way i saw the Big flag of dataran merdeka on my right hand side just b4 reaching the multi roads traffic lights. which road should i take..i think i say as many as 4 roads ahead.
