Good idea bro... But this Sat is a no-no as i'll be attending Training on that day... Next sat should be more ok, but what time is the best time to meet up, if the gathering is on?

Not beginner lah... The only thing nuvi series don't have tracking capabilities.

Bro, tracking in what sense? Meaning real-time updates? Now a bit blur here... blush.gif

New info I get from malsingmaps.com stated new updated firmware for nuvi200 and quoted from bro nuodi

QUOTE(nuodi @ 22 Oct 2007, 06:59 PM)
nuvi 200 now can! smile.gif with firmware update 3.4.
Yet to try it cos afraid my maps n poi's gets wiped out. Will be passing it to my reseller fren to update.

As per my newbies knowledge, abilities of the unit to track back route that had been passed through, when you on the tracking mode you can see a trail along the road you have been passed out. Like in 76csx/60csx we can set the tracking interval by time up to 1 second or by distance up to 10 meter. But in the Mobile XT we just can set the interval to the most often to get the best track. This raw track will be used by mapper for making GPS map together with POI/waypoint and other info. tongue.gif

SE P1i is using symbian UIQ 9.x I think. Not the normal Symbian S60 or S40. So need to be careful also

I read some where in malsingmaps.com notified that they successfully installing mobile XT and navigate through Garmin 10x

QUOTE(gys188 @ malsingmaps.com)
i am newbie, just bought P1i and have used it with garmin 10x, works well though. The only problem i have is the abbreviated address that appears on the search address when you are accessing the <where to> button.
e.g. instead of ([Midlands, lebuh) it only shows M, l.
Any idea how to rectify this?

thanks

For better accuracy, an ext BT GPSr is adviseable rather than buit-in one..reason - u can place the device close to the dge of w/screen & thus better signal reception.
For normal & all-in one conveniency get the all-in one type.

I-phone usage wth GPS oledi discussed in malsingmaps...seems like Iphone having problem wth lotsa BT devices incuding GPS! unless someone willing to become a guinea pig...

Yeah agree. It's better that u read the discussions urself. Otherwise if u act upon our recommendations n u dun like what u buy, u blame us pulak. No device is perfect. That's for sure.

Dun buy N95. My uncle has it. Sux big time

Wah, if some of those GPS-enabled cellphones sux, then might as well get the stand-alone devices... There are many dealers selling, for instance, Garmin products nowadays, which brings about a wider variety of GPS devices in the market...

Yes he has written many good review on GPS.. He used to be a regular in Malsingmaps & MyPdacafe too.. thumbup.gif
Yes GPSr wth PDA either built in or ext BT unit are getting popular nowadays.... thumbup.gif ...But dun forget the emerging trend of ppl going for the Garmin Nuvi 200 series (i.e stand alone navigator) bcos:

1) It's cheap..can get for <RM1200
2) & It can record track rite now wth small modification... thumbup.gif

Just wanna share my opinions here because I have both type of GPSr

If you are planning to get a GPSr for light map browsing and navigation (on for a few minutes to find certain plc) and you are not driving, you may consider to get a Phone/PDA with GPSr / External BT GPSr.

But if you are heavy user where you depend on GPS technology to find your way while driving, by all means, get a Standalone GPS which is specially made for navigation.

Why?
1. Your phone has very slow processor/ram/storage/Smaller Display. Operationwise would be very unfriendly with slow response and you might have to press/tap many buttons before you could actually get what you want. If you are the driver, that would be even worse. You might have to get an assistant sitting beside just to operate your phone. And its a common thg if your PDA hang while u'r using the navigation software with many other software running behind
2. While in busy roads/highways, you are finding your way using GPS with your phone, in critical turning point, suddenly a call comes in....haha....
3. Phone/PDA normally has a short battery span, so, save your battery for your calls. For bizman, calls means money! smile.gif
4. And 1 more very important issue is, some phone uses GPRS (its GPRS, not GPS) to download maps. GPRS downloading.... if you dont have an unlimited data package, u wont know what is the amt printed on you mobile phone bills at end of the month. Sigh....
