I am planning to hire a personal gym trainer.
There is one gym near my university that I just went to survey. Below is the price :-
5 sessions - RM424
15 sessions - RM742
20 sessions - RM1272
30 sessions - RM1590

Does the price fits the market price ? Also, anyone here that hired before a personal gym trainer can share their experience with me ?

What are your purpose of getting a PT?

Not knowing what to do in the gym? How to gain/lost weight? How to lift?

If yes to the above, there are tons of articles in the forum and Internet (check out the sticky threads). They could save tons of your money.

I agree with this Brotha. you dont need a personal trainer. there are tons of information that you can find on the Internet. Try the internet first. If that does not work, ask your friends who lift or into fitness. use PT as the last resort.

It's hard to say here. Having a PT is good as you can get form fixes on the spot.

Problem with most PT (sorry for the generalization here), they teach you what to do and help you count how many reps you are doing and that's all.

I've seen a PT forced her trainee to do front lat raise using weight that she does not capable lift and that PT does not train his leg.

Find a quality PT.

This. I agree with find a quality one.

Having PT somestimes does help to kick start, internet has alot of information, also has alot of misconception, some may be hard to understand everyone says different thing.
Take deadlift as example, it is an easy thing to do, picking things up from the ground is darn easy, but hard to do it right, therefore there has to be someone that able spot your form and correct you on the spot.
If I were to look for PT, these comes into my consideration:
- One method may work for one person but not on another person, a quality PT has to be capable to give technique and method that works for you.
- Positive attitude
- Being sincere to teach rather than trying to earn money
- Patient
- Patient
- Patient
- Humble (you're not perfect)
- Humble (you're not perfect)
- Humble (you're not perfect)

This would be the most sought after skills for PT. This can only be done if the PT have a good understanding about human mechanical which is damn hard subject to master.

Not everyone can have their body upright on their squat or knees must not be further than the toes. Each individual will have different built and genetics thus they will have different way of squatting. Bad PT will force their way to their trainee.

most PT are lazy to design an individually customized program..
they use the generic training program for beginner.

So basically I need to ask the PT if he's willing to design an individually customized program for me ?
