HU changed...
Added headlight manual levelling switch
2 LEDs from each side of rear brake light (towards centre) converted to rear fog light (means the 4 LEDs won't on anymore when u hit brake..., personally i feel this is the poor implementation from Kia in order to save cost to add another set of light)
*
I see. Tqvm.

Seems it cannot fit with third party HU. sad.gif
The levelling switch quite usefull but i never see cerato owner turn on their rear foglamp before. laugh.gif

Any cerato owner got problem with abs and esc ? I just meet 1 direct owner but his car meter are showing yellow abs and esc indicator at the meter panel. Is it expensive to repair if the car out of warranty?

KIA cars today have very little mechanical problem. However being a modern car it have more programs and sensors. In this case the car was indicating that the abs and esc were not working properly and reminding the driver to get the car check which is good.
Most car just need a good calibration and some just have to get the effected sensor replaced or cleaned.

Thanks.

Is it worth to get pre owned 2013 cerato k3 1.6 for 60k direct owner? The car just about 30k km. How much would car dealer take the cerato 1.6 if trade in to them?

I am currently interested in a kia cerato (reg. dec 2013) from a used car dealer. But I need a help from someone who can recommend a mechanic who can help inspect the car and check if got in accident before.

The problem is the dealer don't let me take the car out of the dealership, so the mechanic have to come to the dealership at Jalan Klang Lama, next to Federal highway and the LDP "Penang Bridge"

Can anybody help me with this? Hopefully can check on this Monday, then I will put down booking fee d.
*
How much the dealer offer you on the road?

You can call any kia service branch to know the service history if you know the plate.

I just bought a used cerato which is due for service. I'm going to take it to PJ Red Cube for servicing. I would like to know what fellow owners experience has been like at PJ Red Cube? Was it easy to make an appointment? Was the service friendly? How long did you have to wait between sending the car in till being able to pick the car up after service? Would I need to take half day off work to send it in for service or would sending it during my lunch hour be sufficient? Any advise I need to know before sending it in? It would be great to hear from you guys!

Edit: Also, the car is only 11 months old but only just over 9000 km mileage (the car was sitting unused at the secondhand car dealership for a couple of months). The previous owner did not send it in for service at the 6month mark so this would only be the second time the car is serviced after the 1000km scheduled service. Would this late service affect the warranty?
*
If you call the pj red cube fixed line no one gonna pickup your call as their line got problem. Need to call the service manager mobile number to book or just walk in. I dont think lunch hour is sufficient, better send the car in the morning and take uber to work and take back the car during lunch hour.

For the warranty can explain to the sa the situation. I bought 2nd hand from direct owner also but the owner left the car sitting waiting for new owner without road tax so they cant drive to bring sc. Also remember to change the ownership detail in kia record such as name, address and phone number. If got any recall they can contact you.

Experimenting 195/65R15 on Cerato with Conti CC6, 3000km already. First time experience aquaplaning on Cerato when using CC6, ESC light turn on when cruising on the straight road during heavy downpour. The ESC light never pop up when im using Primacy 3st on Previous 17" rim.

The comfort indeed improve significantly. Conti CC6 tyre are very soft plus with soft suspension setup on Cerato makes it soak all the bump and uneven raod very well. I notice the road noise is just slight lesser on Conti CC6 compared to the famous silent tyre Primacy 3ST, maybe narrow tyre produce lesser road noise compared to the wider tyre.

Handling as expected need to sacrifice a bit. The steering feeling just about the same compared to 17' rims maybe due to kia EPS already abit numb to begin with. Straight line stability still felt ok since im used to drive less stable car. Got chance to push till 200kmh still no vibration just the normal floaty feeling only. High speed cornering like genting road, karak like road make me less confident because of the tall sidewall make more body roll. But tight corner with some uneven road like cameron - tapah feel slightly better because less bumpy during cornering.

FC improve a bit only, maybe max is 1km every litre. Same goes to acceleration, the responsiveness improved.

Here how cerato look on 15" rim. That time im at Phuket, Thai.

Hi Cerato owners...

Some opinions needed...

I've had a Forte 1.6SX for 7 years... trouble-free ownership generally... only issues not of my doing were a faulty fuel pump sensor few months ago (replaced in a few days), faulty driver door button a year-plus back (also replaced in a few days after I ordered part) and a tendency for a headlamp bulb to blow once in a year or two. Otherwise, been a smooth ride thus far... used to service at Puchong initially, which was ok, then moved to Glenmarie SC, which is very efficient and organised.

So, no issues on after-sales or car itself... I average about 9.5l per 100km, city driving.

The thought of changing car this year has crossed my mind - either the K3 or Hyundai Ionic.

Worry is that if I keep the Forte too long, won't get much on resale... at least now, I can expect arnd RM25k...

Any Cerato K3 issues I should be aware of...?

Thanks for your feedback...
*
Did you consider the upcoming elantra? The new generation elantra now come with multilink suspension same as ioniq that cerato lack of it. The upcoming elantra has better spec and chasis than the current elantra since upcoming is the all new generation not a facelift. You can't go wrong with both ioniq and elantra if you want new car this year.

I'm not saying the facelift cerato is not good, it still a good buy. But cerato almost due for a new generation. In 2 years time there will be a new generation cerato come out to compete with the upcoming elantra. As usual, better chasis and spec to fight with the 2017 elantra.

Dont worry about the resale value since your car already 7 year, the value would not depreciated as steep as the first 3 year.

FORTE 2010 1.6 sx CBU
Cereto smoother and so far satisfied.
*
What do you mean by smooth? The engine smoother than forte?

May i know how stiff is forte suspension compared to cerato?
Because i heard from forte club the forte suspension is tune for sporty drive which is stiff.

I never ride or drove a forte but own a cerato. I feel cerato suspension are quite soft. I like the comfort but sometime annoy me when crossing a tall speedbump.

Effy92 - thanks for the feedback. New Cerato only in 2019, yes... I think price by then would also go up with new features and engine. I also hear the Elantra is going to have a turbo engine, which I'm not so keen on. Anyway, next few weeks will be spent testing. The Ionic makes a lot of sense, just a thought that not many on the road yet... Cheers!

Elantra 2017 come with 2 variant. 1.6 turbo and 2.0 natural aspirated.

Not always, it depends on the body color of your car. For temptation red, the sensors are black.

QUOTE(overfloe @ Jun 26 2017, 10:18 PM)
I wonder why the sensor is black on temptation red?

I see. I thought the car has been into accident or sensor has been replaced when saw black sensor on red cerato.

Been driving wifey's FL cerato 1.6.. hauled up full passengers with boot full of luggages. surprisingly, the 1.6 engine feels more energetic than the number suggests.. eager to be revved. love the responsive gearbox. nvh is good but tire noise is a bit high (maybe due to the conti MC5 tires?). wind noise is kept very low when driving at high speed which is very good. engine noise is no problem and sounds quite good when revved. ride is supple but geared to be on the stiffer side (probably due to the low profile tires). handling is quite ok to be honest with not so much bodyroll. steering is ok as it feels heavier when speed increases. though a bit more weight wouldn't hurt. fuel consumption is very good too.

spec wise is very good for the price. my only gripe is it doesn't come with automatic wipers. interior quality is good but i feel the design is not aligned with the rest of the models. maybe the next cerato will be better.

i used to own jap cars before this. took the plunge and bought the kimchi for once. will i buy another kia after this? yes. they seem to get better and better.
*
I'm very surprise you said cerato ride was stiff. Maybe it feel stiff if pass over the pothole due to low profile tyre, but the suspension undulation is super soft for me. The car totally tuned for comfort which is good for passenger and for driver who like the comfort ride.

But the cons is the rear arch look sag if fully loaded with passenger and can feel the rear suspension reach the limit after pass through speedbump. Also really need to slow on the speedbump else will hit the undercarriage after the front tyre.

I even experimenting 15' rim paired high profile tyre 195/65 because i wanted the car to be more comfortable when fetching people. The result, comfort level was superb like sylphy and altis ride. I like it for daily drive. I did that because cerato is comfort car then why not i make it more comfortable since the handling also feel sampan even with 17 inch rims.

Wah can pump till 51L? According to manual booklet should be 50L only
My best range was 32km after the range becomes - - - -
*
QUOTE(Bassraptor @ Jul 18 2018, 10:10 PM)
Yes, as per specs, 50L.

There are technical reasons why you should not regularly let your fuel tank run very low or top up beyond the click. Google it and find out how you're damaging your car in the long run.
*
That's why I'm wondering whether the petrol station cheat on pump or not. The range still got 60km left before i refuel 51l. Many times i refuel after the yellow indicator pop up but never reach 51l, max before this is 47l - 48l from my fuelly record.

I will try pump again at that station with my other car.

@bassraptor
That's is my bad habit every fuel up lol.

how often do u change ur tyres? yearly ? or 2-3 yrs? 4yrs?  if 3+ yrs then dont bother. maintain as stock.
also if u change ur rims, u need to check if the disc brake calipers can fit with smaller rim. cause if the disc brake calipers r big, u still need a bigger rim for that gap between wheel n brake caliper
*
QUOTE(Netto Hikari @ Oct 9 2018, 09:17 PM)
based on current millage, since the car birth till now, approx 2 yrs, only reach 30k.
the stock tyre sudah botak, so wanted to go n change tyre. my fren was saying that smaller rim, tyre is cheaper and my car would fit. not sure about the disc break.
*
The smallest rims that cerato can take is 15". Im using 15 because i want the car to be most comfortable. Cerato suspension also tuned to be comfort oriented than handling, so thicker tyre really match with the car characteristics.

Interested with K3 1.6, for owners here.. any prominent issues with the car so far? is it reliable?
*
Own 2013 1.6, engine gearbox aircon are reliable. All kia hyundai that recently using eps confirm will have steering coupler issues, that is just a small issue after few year of usage and can be settle for about 1-2 hundred depend on workshop.

Other issues is switch, like power window switch, steering volume button and search, signal light switch. My 2013 batch seems a bit fragile but after claim warantty the replacement seems to be better quality.

Maintenance and fuel just like a civic 2.0 and corrolla 2.0 even the cerato is 1.6. Don't expect the fuel consumption and maintenance to be like city and vios.

The thing that you may like or not like is the super soft suspension. I got chance to drive the new corolla with Socar car rental, manage to drive for about 60km using my usual route. Surprisingly corolla that famous with comfort are not really comfort actually. Cerato has more softer suspension than corolla and it can pass through speedbump with no scrubbing undercarrige without really need to slowdown like my cerato. If you like a car that ride like a sofa then you are good to go.
Civic fb = medium
Corolla/sylphy = soft
Cerato/elantra md = super soft
