Welcome to the 2.0 club! What colour did you get? I agree with Forte comparisons... the Cerato seems to soak up bumps without letting you know much about it!
*
Thank you! My wife took the Glittering Metal color, the car looks really good with that shade of grey. According to her it's less tiring getting stuck in a jam in the Cerato compared to my Forte, as she was driving my Forte for the past few years. Maybe it's the new seat design, seat cushion, or the lumbar support. Whatever it is, it's really a big improvement from the Forte.

Damn, i got glittering metal too, that grey is very classy and, importantly, my wife's choice! I was going to go for golden beat coz my previous Forte was metal bronze... but the Forte's brown stands out better than the Cerato's shade of brown.

Lumbar support is where the Forte let me down... I always had to use a prop for better lower back support. But the moment I got into the Cerato, no worries about lumbar support.

Its not easy to differentiate between glittering and golden beat.. too close. Naza should have offered black or blue instead.

And yes, my wife also said the lumbar support is good.

Yup... under certain lighting, both look alike. I wouldn't have minded blue or racing green...

We're really in the same boat bro, my Forte is the brown color as well, Metallic Bronze from 2010. We saw a unit with Golden Beat color in Kia Glenmarie, and it looks pretty good, but my wife don't want the car to look similar to my Forte. And I agree with the lumbar support, you don't know that you need it until you have actually used it.

And I really love the electronic memory seat, so me and my wife can have separate setting of the seat position, including the position of the lumbar support. We're really loving this car to bits.

My Forte was 2010 also! What a coincidence...and we went to Glenmarie to check out the colours as well, haha! My wife said 7 years looking at brown enough already, take grey...

I did the window tinting 2 weeks ago.

Going overseas for a 3-4 days today, so left car at coating shop for a no-rush coating job.

Yes, the Cerato is very comfy, ride over bumps is nicer than Forte. Also, the 2.0 engine does sing better when you push it...

I haven't worked out everything about the navigator... the sound system is pretty good for this level, and with bluetooth hands-free, taking and making the occasional call is a pleasure...

Start using Kia Cerato
- March 2015 until now

Current Mileage
- 110,000km

What I like
- Design cun - put bodykit is a must
- tail light very cun - always a headturner
- soft touch material on the dash and doorcard
- keyless entry with push start
- puddle lamp
- paddle shifter
- huge entertainment screen with bluetooth
- glovebox with aircon
- front parking sensor
- auto headlamp
- 2x 12v socket
- autochromic rear view mirror
- safety windows
- rear aircond vent
- foldable rear seat
- electric seat with memory (very important)
- easy access seat
- full size spare tyre
- almost flat rear floor
- quiet engine
- smooth gearbox

What I don't like
- NVH so-so
- interior design so-so
- steering feels very numb
- conventional handbrake
- too much body roll
- power not very good (1.6) gearing kinda short

What I wish
- electronic parking brake (so the centre console looks cleaner)
- auto wiper
- blind spot monitoring

Will i sell it?
- not for now. Not sure if im going to, ever, since the car is so packed with convenience and safety features at such a good price

Should you buy it?
Yes! Definitely! But if you are looking for a car with gooood power and handling, you gonna need to consider other options.

Hahaa.. such a co-incidence. Tinting and coating, wow.. you really take good care of your car. Which tint and coating are you installing? Did you get a good price for it?

We're still considering whether to tint or not, as the existing glass seems dark enough already. If my wife cannot tahan, we will consider to go for tinting.

FYI, new KIA owners
For those going to do first free service at 1k... they also do tyre alignment FOC....next service on you have to pay for that.
*
QUOTE(Buydirect @ Jul 8 2017, 04:52 PM)
Tyre alignment is included in the warranty and indicated as valid up to 1000 km in the service booklet. But all service centers will assist you to the alignment during the first service, if you highlight this problem, that is car pulling to one side while driving.
*
If i did not take the free service does the alignment included? Service center told us have to pay if want alignment to be done during 1000km service.

Since we bought pre-reg car, service center inform us that we need to come again for service in september/october (instead of 10k km / 6 months) after 1k service today, so that record will be tally ( no idea what record). Is this normal?

Tq for sharing..

the most i concern is engine & gearbox issue...
how their performance??

got read all post/ forum kia cerato thread in here..
but hard to find customer complaint on this issue..

either no problem or good kia marketing in LYN to cover up...

agreed with you on int design..look need more fresh & exclusive design on IP and floor console area..

other dilemma..
buy 2nd because lower RSV
but poor engine / performance

or buy frst but worry to sell less than 5 yrs..(confirm rugi)

all cars got problem. mesti ada punya. so far cerato have small niggles, no major setbacks based on real owners.
no issues with engine & gearbox reported as far as i know.

performance of the 1.6 engine? it's enough for most users. it revs easily and sounds good. good engine insulation when cruising. if you need more oomph just get the 2.0.

if you are looking for an all-out performance car, then cerato is not for you. it's a normal saloon with good safety features and functions. yes, the cabin is abit outdated if you compare with other more recent kia models (sportage, optima gt, sorento) but it's well put together.

I can't comment on the Cerato as my wife had only had it for a few days. But I can comment on the Forte, the previous generation Cerato. I've been using my Forte for 7 years, and I have never had any issue with engine or gearbox. The only major problem I've had is the compressor which went kaput last year, other than that there is no issue with the car. It's well worth the money I paid for it. I'm still driving the Forte and do not have any plans to sell it anytime soon.

Engine & gearbox is working fine, just follow normal servicr schedule. If anything happens can always claim to Kia since engine n gearbox have 5 years warranty. Even i saw 1 of the members already clocked 200,000km last year without any problem.

Honestly i think the engine n gearbox is good, quiet enough and responsive and also reliable. Not sure why owners dont make a hoo-haa about this, will definitely opens up the eyes of other people who bash Kia.

If you can afford to buy new, better go for new car
5 years warranty and you know every single thing about the car
RV is a drawback for any Kia car i think, but i think you will enjoy this car for quite some time unless you decided to upgrade to Conti laugh.gif

The alignment is covered under the warranty, during the 1000 km or 1 month First service. It doesn't matter whether you took the free service option or without, because this is about warranty and not Free service. There is no charge for alignment for first service.
