You pay to get in, you pay to get out.

No one walks out of KLIAV without any cash note leaving their wallet or credit card un-swiped.

BE WARNED!
*
that is fine, my main objective is to test AK380 and few speaker setups

but not going to buy it, just walk around, get some photos

I was jus kiddin.  It's not that bad.

You most probably see some loan sharks standing in one of the corners waiting to extend their "assistance"

If you lack the slightest bit of self control.  That is totally a different case all together
*
Haha, i know it is just a joke, i usually buy when I need it. Right now it is not the time yet.

MA Recording is joining as usual. Bought their CDs last year, recording quality is amazing! Plan to grab a few this year also.

My favourite J.S.Bach's work, 6 Suites for Cello Solo. (Any classical fans here?)
It's only a 16 bit/44.1k CD, but recording format is 5.6mHz one point DSD.

I only have these version:

Just back from KLIAV.... Interesting show... with some dissapointed as Focal and Mcintosh already disvorced. Either one are not impressed by itself.

Here is what I learn from the show;

(1) Most setup are actually dissapointing even they have very high price tag. Only few are worth paying attention.
(2) Senheiser HD800 is a must buy headphone... The sound is so airy and so engaging... I will get it. Just matter of time.
(3) AK380 has lots and lots of details... Sometime I wonder if it is natural....
(4) Oppo HA-1 is dissapointing as compare to its price. Bass has no separation details, blurry and  high freq is not airy. Tested with few headphones, same..
(5) Oppo PM-1 high price tag is a joke... Lost to a simple HD650 that cost 1/3 of the price.
(6) MA Silver 8 is a very very good speaker for its price. It should be the best speaker under RM10k
(7) Wharfedale Opus-II is impressive with it super wide sound stage. Super airy high freq sound + very controlled and low freq. It will create a big problem... With similar price, Go for Opus-II for its super wide sound stage, or Focal Electra for its realistic sound??? Will be very headache making decision.
(8) liquidgal is very pretty

not trying HIFIMAN when you were with starpickers?

Just come back from the show, not all the booth I visited, few only, basically to survey affordable speaker system, but stunned by the price for really really impressive setup

So, first I visited E1 personal Audio, just want trying AK240, AK380 and Angie

Attached Image

Quite impressive with AK380, I think this should be the real sound for AK series, testing AK240ss at the same time, but sound wise I will choose AK380 except I dont have the budget to buy . sweat.gif

After that, I went to Starspicker, testing HE1000, really good sound. I tested HD800 (balanced) + HDVD800, hmmm, not my taste. Tested HD700 + Lafigaro amp, at the same time with HD600, cant tell the difference, only noticable point is the treble, where HD600 is more to soft side.

Skipping my lunch, continuing to speaker setup settings, too many option and didnt do my "hifi homework" before going, so just go in and feel the sound. (the turntable really nice looking thumbup.gif )

Sony fans may know this:

Chord Hugo TT, it really impresses me (so as the price cry.gif)

There goes my first HIFI AV show, the end

I try HE-1000 can't get WOW factor. I'm sticking with HD800 tongue.gif. AK380 is nice tongue.gif.
*
may be need to be full HIFIman setup, I am not a fan of HIFIman, but the headphones are quite nice and valuable to buy

AK380 really impresses me, the price also, I notice the volume range increases from 0~75 to 0~150. Too bad the docking amp is not available

Pretty surprised to see someone bringing the Crayon Audio, especially the CHA 1 amplifier. Guy told me he had three orders already. At $10,000+ a pop, I'm gobsmacked. Best Damn headphone amp ever made.

Their hifi products is pretty stellar too.
*
I notice quite an interesting phenomena:

teenage or below 30 (judging by look) are more to headphone and portable setup

while uncle and auntie (significant look) are more to speaker system

hmm.gif

You should have sat there and listen to the guai lo babble on about alignment, tracking and balance until you wonder why would someone even bother going through hell just to get things like that right. The attention to details must be OCD level-like.
*
That room when I went in was full with audience sitting (around 20+) already,

I didnt see any Mat Salleh babbling, only local uncle and auntie chit chatting the sound.

because headphone are cheaper than speaker system. HD800 is about rm5600. and thats about the starting price for entry level hifi.

because you can use headphone in your rented room( no disrespect to headphone user)
but it would be silly to use your RM50k speakers in your rented room.

i say financial impact and portability is the reason.
*
even 5k for HD800 is quite tight budget to me, considering the system to drive it almost perfectly sweat.gif

I think the trend nowaday is an IEM or a headphone + portable music player + amplifier (optional)

Nope, HD800 is never an endgame but Orpheus may be rclxms.gif

budget limited for below age 30, RM 100,000 and above is for unker level biggrin.gif
