Just back from KLIAV.... Interesting show... with some dissapointed as Focal and Mcintosh already disvorced. Either one are not impressed by itself.

Here is what I learn from the show;

(1) Most setup are actually dissapointing even they have very high price tag. Only few are worth paying attention.
(2) Senheiser HD800 is a must buy headphone... The sound is so airy and so engaging... I will get it. Just matter of time.
(3) AK380 has lots and lots of details... Sometime I wonder if it is natural....
(4) Oppo HA-1 is dissapointing as compare to its price. Bass has no separation details, blurry and high freq is not airy. Tested with few headphones, same..
(5) Oppo PM-1 high price tag is a joke... Lost to a simple HD650 that cost 1/3 of the price.
(6) MA Silver 8 is a very very good speaker for its price. It should be the best speaker under RM10k
(7) Wharfedale Opus-II is impressive with it super wide sound stage. Super airy high freq sound + very controlled and low freq. It will create a big problem... With similar price, Go for Opus-II for its super wide sound stage, or Focal Electra for its realistic sound??? Will be very headache making decision.
(8) liquidgal is very pretty

not trying HIFIMAN when you were with starpickers?

any good speaker system recommeded below RM5k during the show? smile.gif
*
No Hifiman for me...

Below RM5k that is okay... Cannot remember there. But you can try either MA Silver 6 or KEF Q700/Q900.

Sometimes I wished they placed the HT + Karaoke folks into a dedicated floor instead of mixing them with hifi folks.

Was at the room where Chord were exhibiting their new DACs and Dave and to my surprised John Frank and Rob Watts were there I believe & Swedish Statement were exhibiting nearby as well. Out of the sudden I could hear the room rumbling as a effect from the room opposite/next door from the excessive subwoofer blasting as if they're competing who could produce the loudest resonance.

Not once but multiple times.

/facepalm

Yeah... Actually I am not even sure if Karaoke setup is relevant there... I did not enter any...

for a simple-minded person like me, the RM10.60 is well spent!
can't afford any serious systems, so if I were to just walk in to any retailer on a normal day and ask for an audition, it would be so weird, not to mention all the travelling costs!
on the other hand, once a year, at a central place, *nearly* everyone in the local hifi/av industry comes to show the latest that they have, some giving some deals too.
what a different atmosphere!

I enjoyed the earphone/iem booths, powered simply with my phone and Spotify.
I enjoyed the countless Transformers Atmos demos, but wished some of the displays was also properly setup too.
I enjoyed the Epos, HiFi Creations, PMC, Sonus Faber and many other brands that my simple mind cannot remember or afford.

I had a good time, and I wish the same to all other visitors. Have fun!

Good say... The most disappointed is the Focal. Last time got Utopia really super impressive... Now just showing Sopra, which the bass fail to impress as fail to cover the ball room with crowd noise. Some more it seems without Mcintosh like downgraded sound... The speaker cable there also seems so slim as compare to normal Mcintosh setup.

While Mcintosh this time showing their speaker.... The result is like... Why bother to show?

Just back...only bought some 3D blurays...some priced at rm38 by speedy

Sound system...nothing much impressive this year

Mcintosh was so so
The Sonus Faber Aida with Audio Research G series oso so so only...the balancing out

Dynaudio sounded below average

Hifi Creations..worth listening although too many people and can't really hear

Finally someone share the same ears as mine~ thumbup.gif
Last year the Mcintosh and Focal Utopia really steal the show... But now... Break up liao. cry.gif

how about MA silver6?how much is it?tq bos
*
Not sure about the price.

But the Silver 6 sound is okay and very standard. It sound similar to my RX6.

Silver 8 is more impressive and offer bigger sound.

Btw, IMO, RX6 and Silver 6 is kind of physically short.

tq bos for your info..
do you want to sell your rx6? drool.gif
*
Hahaha... Yes I will sell. But not this year.

The reason I do not like it is too short. I just feel not so right about it.

I always like taller speakers.

Btw, even Silver 8 is short.

Sometime I do not know what Monitor Audio people is thinking about... Is the engineers over there shorter than the rest of british people?

Taller or bigger speakers always give better feel in term of looks comforms factos.

My RX6 is in bi-wire and I found bi-wire indeed have some improvement... maybe 5 to 10% for my case.

chanhin, do you remember what's the pre/amp used to drive the Opus 2? Is it floor-stander or stand-mount?
*
I can only remember low power amp, which was surprise to me. something like 40 or 60 watt... but sound is impressive sweat.gif
