Enemy Within/Unknown will have very little to do with Xcom 2 sorry. Why? Because for Xcom 2, the backstory basically puts you in a position where xcom 1 forces has all died.

Also for those saying xcom 2 = xcom 1 with better visuals, lol you all cannot be more wrong. Please don't simply assume. There are TONS of gameplay changes and balances, that alone already refines the combat to new heights in xcom 2. The story is also a lot more engaging this time, not like a side thing in xcom 1.

maybe because no game ready driver released?
*
There won't be a game ready driver for this, neither from nvidia or AMD.

Game is just simply quite unoptimized right now.
Played for a couple of hours, on a single 980Ti at 1440p. Cannot hold 60fps with game maxed out, getting dips to 40s in the base/avenger. During gameplay, the action cam will tank the framerates down to 30s for whatever reason, everything is so judder-filled even with Gsync enabled.

Shadow quality, post process effects (DoF, ironically), and AA are the culprits.

Game is still awesome regardless. Also, it needs to be on SSD otherwise the amount of texture streaming is just freaking unbelievable (oh and the loading... doh.gif).

Incredible that firaxis wouldnt have optimize this game.
*
Eh, they've never been known for well performing games neither on PC or consoles. So, I expected Xcom 2 to perform mediocre. Just disappointed they haven't learn much about the meaning of optimizing over the last decade.

how can game sites give glowing recommendations then?? its high rating everywhere. i'm not gonna buy it then, wait for sales.

need angry joe to to tell the truth lol.
*
Because despite performance issues, the game is insanely fun, intense, exhilarating and addictive. It's still playable, just not at a level where it should have been better.

*EDIT*
I'm spending more time creating characters for the char. pool than actually playing the game lol.

So this game worth buying now or wait? How about the MP? Is MP nice?
*
People barely even scratched the surface. Hell, everyone I know still busy tinkering with their custom characters instead of even doing the tutorial. MP impressions will have to wait.

Regarding load times, here's a weird trick: press your caplocks key when loading.

Only works when loading after a fight, returning back to the avenger (which is where the bulk of loadtimes are).

Yes, weird indeed.

No I'm not trolling - https://www.reddit.com/r/Xcom/comments/44r2...sion_skyranger/

wtf this is first time i played Xcom series & its difficult for me.

Maybe i'm rusty when comes to turn-based tactic game as the last time I played this genre was on Final Fantasy Tactic. lol.

Too many pussy games on the market now a days. I'm glad xcom 2 is hard and it should be. Who ever said being a resistance team is easy?

Yea I really love it, because it reminds me of Banner of Saga too, it's freaking hard at one point in the game.

Enjoy.
Here's hoping Long War Mod 2 comes out soon as well.

For those that don't know, Humble Bundle Monthly has XCOM2 at $12. The ringgit may be shit, but $12 only equates to RM55+. Steam isn't going to put this game on sale down that low until at least summer of 2017 (if not longer).

https://www.humblebundle.com/monthly

Just cancel your subscription before the end of next month so you don't get charged for the following month.

Oh and before asks if it includes the DLC - it doesn't.
Also the DLC is garbage, so don't even worry about it.

ya that is a good price since Steam won't discount as much for quite a bit (like a year), and you get a few more games out of it later. but this or Diablo III RoS.. hmm.gif

Different games, different genres.

You ask me, I'd go XCOM anyday. There's so many different ways to play it, it's not one dimensional.

Diablo 3 is basically a grind more to grind better, then grind better so you can grind more. I guess if you're in for that kind of experience, D3 does it like no other.

for Turn Based Strategy, no doubt XCOM is the most complex in terms of environment usage, however, gameplay wise it's pretty straight forward.

sneak in to correct position & range -> overwatch -> take 1st shot -> overwatch shoots when A.I scramble -> Take out rest, trigger next wave, rinse & repeat & pray you don't trigger the next wave before clearing out the current waves & pray the Alien Boss doesn't show up & wipe your bottoms unexpected.

i hardly use more creative tactics because they not just waste your moves but also brings more uncertainties & in short just not worth it.

but yes for Turn Based it can be creative but no reward for it. Enemies has very long range so no matter where you run they can still shoot at you unless they are melee or pistol.

Hard West is more fun too bad they only have ironman mode. Better story & voice acting too.

One thing that bores me is the typical Western Mass Effect Character design, voice acting & storyline.

I just need to watch the 1st scene to know the whole story.

Mordheim too complex if not would be also a fun game.

While I agree with the same standard tried and true tactics will always work best and there's not much reward to doing things differently... I gotta ask, where's the fun in that?

XCOM2 allows you to beat a stage in your own creative ways. Whether or not that's most effective is beyond the question.

The comparison was made to Diablo 3. Tell me how many ways can you play the game that it doesn't differ from grinding till no end. No matter how you want to change it up in D3, you still end up in some form of endless grinding. Hence grind more to grind better.

i understand there is a mid game save system that allows you to reload and retry, but what fun is that? the problem with the game is once your character dies he is gone. and this game is highly random, anything goes, unless you have very high level gears AI can get you unexpected.

so there is no reward playing the fancy way. unless you already finished the game and don't care about game progress just for fun.

worse case is with the count down thing that pressure players to make the best decisions.

I think you're mistaken what I'm saying, re-read my posts.

I was making the comparison between XCOM2 and Diablo 3, because svfn asked which game to buy. I gave a comparison to the 2 games because they are completely different in genres. I wasn't comparing XCOM2 to any other turn-based 4x game.

Also, you don't have to "re-load and re-try" just because it's there. Those are just rules bound by one's own mind state to always want to be "perfect" when in reality, the game isn't. It doesn't change the fact that you CAN still play the game in different ways whether it's first time through or the 10th time through.

One last time, Diablo 3 doesn't allow the user to play too differently than the intended design. It's made to hold your hand whether you're an experienced Diablo player or not.
