I've resorted to dial-ups to really enjoy WoW. I had a nightmare session of 5 hours dying/rez to only gain 1 measly lvl! On dial-up, the exerience is musch more tolerable...Since I'm only playing WoW once in a while, that's the best way for me. Streamyx is OK after 12 midnight...but wince we play US servers, that's also when they start logging off to go to work!

218.x.x.x is as good as it gets. But I noticed on some servers it lags... the West-East servers. I have played on those servers below and get good connections like 200+ to 400ms.
218.x.x.x Spinebreaker, Stonemaul, Smolderthorn
219.x.x.x Spirestone

Today my phone line was dead for like 30 minutes, as in no tone -.- But after that when it came back up I got a new IP, 60.50 ping is 550+, not as good as 60.49, but theres no lag spike at all. I'm gonna stick to this for now, the other IPs starting with 60 is hopeless.

Alright guys, got some question for you all who played or still playing World of Warcraft now. Q) Which server do you connect to play this game? US server? East side or West side? Of course smooth connection is our first priority. That's the question I wanna ask (for my friend). Anyone who know the answer or got some experience to share, please reply soon. Thanks!

There's no actual difference in ping times. I've read on wow forums that all US servers are not actually placed in their respective geographical zones. i.e. they're centralised unlike other MMORPG servers like EQ, UO. Wow's servers' difference is only their respective timezones. Hence, it does not matter which server you're playing on.
I've played on central low pop and pacific medium pop, the pings are the same. The central do seem more stable because it's low pop. But it's barely noticeable honestly.
Bottom line, if you're looking for smooth reliable connection - find a low population/new server. But it can get boring at times if you're horde (lack of people for raids). If I were you, find a med pop server...stay away from high pop at all costs.

Erm not sure whether they are west/east side...but I've played on: a) Spinebreaker (more than 8 months) - beginning was laggy, now its smooth Smolderthorn, Spirestone, Stonemaul (about a month+) - connection ok with occassional lag spikes Your friend might want to look up the forums for server with our msian comrades.

60.49 is horrible from now on, had to switch to 60.50 now. Least I got 3 options rather than the stupid 219. If ur using 219 get ur port changed or ur never gonna play in peace.

hmm last week i my modem was blinking non-stop for 2 days (weds/thurs), so i called tmnet up and discuss it. on friday, it was ok again, and now i can get 218.111 and 60.49 ip. which is amazing, i don't get 219.95 ip anymore after i retry many times :/
i don't play wow now so i can't really comment on how 218.111 and 60.49 ip is doing. thats one way to change the port i guess.

I think it's more area problem rather then IP range problem (although they're somehow related to the problems). At my place, any IP i connect also ok. While others having lag and as such, I'm fine with my connection.

To change ur port you gotta ask the technicians that come to ur house, they can do it, you gotta ask. Those dumb operators are useless all the time and shouldnt be relied on. Btw today's a laggy day, 1k ping -.-
