30 fps is good imo. I get a freaking 10 in bgs. Go me. Question is... how is your latency? lagging lately or good?

Hi, I just checked my FPS for WOW for all areas and it is fixed at 30fps....is this ok? Shouldn't it be higher?

I heard it has something to do with vertical sync...If I disable it will go higher?
*
v-sync means the card adjusts to ur monitor refresh rate. but if ur getting 30fps steady, i don't think disabling v-sync would do much difference. Correct me if i'm wrong. But just disable if and see the outcome.

Hmm...I dunno lor my specs as follows:

Pentium D 3.2Ghz
1GB 667mhz DDR2
GF 7300LE 256mb

Should be better than 30fps rite? Maybe my settings wrong sad.gif

As for latency it depends on the time of day lor. Late at night I'm fine at 400 - 500 ms. Anyway it doesn't matter to me. I rarely pvp so a ping below 750ms is just OK to play. sweat.gif

When it goes above that everything starts to freeze up and lag and I cry each time I die from lag cry.gif

Ehh, dunno leh, my brother says my comp got problem. Anyway he compare to CS where he said always get 100fps. Different game different fps settings right? Not necessary to get 100fps all the time?

Recently move to ampang area and got myself a streamyx 512/1024 connection to play my beloved WoW. First day of logging into Proudmoore with this new connection and geez, latency range from 1k to 12k ms. I was staying at Sri damansara area before and latency was constant 300 -> 700ms ish.
Thought maybe something to do with this Aztech DSL600E modem that came with the box. So I brought this modem together with my comp back to Sri damansara to test it. So freaking problem... latency is good with constant 200 -> 500 ms.
Check my line in ampang, no problem, phone tone is ok without noise, BT is relatively fast enough, the only different is the IP, 60.48.xx.xx in ampang while 218.111.xx.xx in sri damansara sad.gif
Try connect/disconnect to see if I can get the 218.111. range, no luck, can only get the 60.xx IP range.
Wondering any wow mate here live near ampang area getting good latency? (constant <1 k ms is good for me). If so what's your IP range? Wondering if I can ask TMnuts to change my port or do something so i can get the 218.XX IP range so i can enjoy my wow again.

Edit: you know how frustrated Malaysia WoW'er is with streamyx when they found this thread lol, Malaysia boleh? in your dream........

You won't notice any different in WoW if your fps is higher than 25. 25 FPS or 60 FPS it's the same to your eye. Only latency is the b i t c h. FPS pretty much depends on your system and video card's house power icon_rolleyes.gif

FPS is depeding on your system specs. If you have a good graphics card n monitor, it's all good. But latency is depending on the internet connection and other network related stuff which we users have limited control over it...

Oh yeh, yesterday afternoon and evening ping was 12k and frequent disconnection. Cannot even log on sometimes even on 218. ip....

I found that we need 218.111.x.x ip now. But a couple of months back we needed to use 60.x.x.x.

Now I have found out that apparently Jaring Flite WIRED covers whole of Malaysia. Is anyone using it? Hows the connection to wow? Does it have stupid disconnects and 6k latency during certain hours/ips? Right now (using streamyx) at midnight I will get kicked off and I can't get the 218.111.x.x ip till like noon. Considering morning is peak raiding periods .. it sucks.

If theres good feedback on Jaring Flight Wired, Im gonna switch.

Sashan I have the same problem with you.

I called them ,made report like so many times, they still cannot fix the damn 219 Ip, i cannot do any online meeting and crap, what about gaming? Impossible . Paid them months for nothing.

Tell me if you find a solution. I was about to switch to Jaring wireless

I've made the report myself as well, so many times. Can't resolve.
I'm about to switch to Jaring too, but I will cry if I switch and service is worse, thats the part Im worried about. Then again, can anything be worse than streamyx right now.

I think it should be the same or worse...all ISPs will be using the same lines as tmnet right? After all tmnet owns the main core of the networks right?

Oh yeah, my company is using satellite via NationCom. The download rates seem pretty good (>100kb/s). I haven't really uploaded anything yet so I can't comment. Any satellite service available? Commercial internet is way too expensive.

Also, I heard that satellite is not good for gaming..

I bought my computer 2 years ago with P4 2.6Ghz and ATI Radeon 9600. Still gives me 30+ FPS. Recently bought computers shouldn't have a problem getting 30+ FPS unless ur running on integrated graphics card smile.gif

Call streamyx -> File report -> Nothing happen. Always like that wan vmad.gif

I don't think Jaring and Streamyx use the same IP's, so I dunno if that would make a difference. I was using Jaring dial up and it seemed to be more stable than streamyx in the morning. How sad is that?

Also, apparently satellite isnt good for gaming due to the way the data is transferred. Its good for downloading though

Hei mate. Its normal for 218.111 ip to have smooth ping because thats one of the best ip for a gamer in malaysia to play smooth online game.
I am a wow gamer too playing in gorgonnash
It is very true that 60.48 ip will have 1k> ms ping when playing wow. I experience it myself too. What i suggest it u try to get ip raging from 60.50 to 60.53. You will have 300ms to 600ms when playing wow with that ping. I dono about ampang area, but my area in subang jaya can obtain 60.50 to 60.53 ip starting from 1pm in the afternoon till 7pm at night. You may want to try to disconnect and keep reconnecting at this time. Hope this helps.
