Hello, my question is that can we trade in our old ipods for a new one and where would that be? I'm asking this because I'm planning to buy an ipod nano and it seems there is a new ipod coming out every few months.
So, I think after using it for sometime I would like to upgrade to something better. I already asked the salesperson at apple's authorised reseller (MacAsia) and she said that they would only accept trade ins of only ibooks, imacs and the ilk.
But my friend said that we could trade in our ipod in Singapore's Apple Center. Is that true?

But the price will be super low... and your set will be send to Apple and be made as refurbished set.

How low? Would I be able to cover at least 50% of the costs of buying a new ipod?

QUOTE(Goody2Shoes @ Oct 29 2006, 12:04 PM) How low? Would I be able to cover at least 50% of the costs of buying a new ipod? When you buy a car, trading-in to get the new model will always lose you more money than finding a buyer on your own. The reason for this is obvious if spend a few moments to think about it. The dealer will need to fiind a buyer and he certainly will want a comission from this second sale. Why should consumer electronics (whoose depreciation rate is even more rapid and shelf-life very transient) be any different? If you are looking to upgrade every few months (and many of us do) be prepared to bite the depreciation bullet and take a loss. Sell your device cheap (LYNet marketplace is a great place for this) and move on the next great thing. If your wallet can't take the hit: be happy with what you have until it breaks or your willpower does. If you wait forever, you'll miss out on what is a really nice toy to have.

iPod does upgrade roughly once a year, not every few months. suprisingly, other products in the market actually upgrade faster
