1) It's very unlikely your calculator will die in the exam.

2) Try Kinokuniya at KLCC.

If it's just a normal RM40 scientific calculator I wouldn't mind buying another calculator just in case.

But we're talking about a RM290+ financial calculator here. I would prefer bringing a screw driver and batteries to the exams. =/
If you are afraid it being used up in exams, just replace the battery with a new one before sitting for exams. Possibility of it dying is close to zero.

I bought my calculator at MPH but I heard they don't sell it anymore. Kasturi sells them, according to some forummer in this thread.

Either malfunction or battery dies, the chances are very low. I have a Texas BA II PLUS PRO which I bought in 2008 and have been using it till now (even the recent Level 1 in June'11). I have never changed the battery (still the same one that came in the package). I can guarantee nothing will happen to yours although yours is Basic (unless you have a habit of dropping calculators).

we should either bring an extra calculator, or screwdriver + batteries if you are using the ba 2 plus

if u are using the ba 2 plus PRO, then you don't need a screwdriver, just batteries

i agree that the chances of ur calculator dying is close to zero. But.. WHAT IF? then you are screwed. Bringing extra calculator brings no harm. There could be other possibilities that calculator don't function, it is not necessarily only due to battery.. even if you change it right before the exams

Since fino will be going to support.. maybe he could loan you his calculator and you treat him drinks in return instead?
