I am not really doing the job that i have been dreaming of since i was a kid. Kinda tumbled into this industry during my 3rd year in uni and i actually like it very much.

Yes, i do enjoy my job a lot but the pay is crap and i work pretty late nites until 11:30pm, 12am in office for the past month and this month. But i guess, when you enjoy your job, it's still ok for you rather than dreading the day.. smile.gif

I love
- The people in my company. Nice, friendly, not at all political and never see blaming/finger pointing. Can get along with colleagues/managers very well

- A lot of exposure (frequent chance of traveling, customer facing, and of course decent per-diem as well)

- Company culture. Well it's more to western style, my company is practicing flexi-hour, can wear casual as long as not facing customers, employees are not tightly controlled/monitor. I really appreciate the freedom and I won't abuse it smile.gif

- Company environment. It might not look as interesting as Google's office, but it's very new and spacious I can say. Facilities are quite good, Internet connection is fast, nothing much for me to complain.

- Decent benefits. Yearly dental, optical claim. One mobile phone line for business purpose. Laptop. 20days+ of annual leave.

I loath
- Salary...it's pretty much up to market value. But I hope it's more than that! It will never be enough! LOL.

- Have to travel very often (too often), it screws up my stuffs in Malaysia sometimes (late bill payments and whatnot)

- Not very technical. My job is more on business side with some minor scripting. I quite like doing technical stuffs actually, and I've to admit it dropped a lot since I started this job.

The bottom line
- I guess every job has its pros and cons. It's actually important that you perceive your job. i.e. make the best out of the pros, and try to complement the cons with something else

i hate my job

1) Working hour supposed to be 9-6 but I wake up at 7.30 to travel to office, stay there sometimes until 12.00am get home still need to write daily report for my supervisor.

2) Even though it's a 5 days job but most of the time work at home (carry home job). Sometime boss request to work in the office at Saturday or Sunday.

3) Over demanding boss, everyday popup with funny funny idea and put u as a white mouse to experiment it.

4) Get paid below market value and sometimes have to cover others task such as call embassy to check on Visa, work out a proper presentation slide for boss, take spoilt hard disk go repair, buy office stationary etc.

The good thing is,
1) Get my paycheck on time.

2) Freedom: Can have Yahoo Messenger/ Msn turn on.

3) Have my own headphone.

Fyi, have stayed with this company for nearly 5 months and I think it's about time to leave.

I love my job because

- doing what i do best
- expanding my knowledge
- office near to my wife

i hate my job because
- no bonus
- so many work, so little time (wonder where i found the time to write this)
- when i ask them when you want this, they say yesterday (not joking)
- salary not equal to jobs given.

well, not all jobs are perfect

Love my job becos
- cheap meals, RM60 can cover 1 month's lunch
- cheap open-air carpark, MR35 a month
- near to Lowyat, Sg Wang, Alor, etc, can shop and see gals
- 21 days leave, RM200 dental claim, unlimited surgery claim
- 5 days' week, pretty fixed office hours, rare OT, more personal time
- at least 2 months' bonus
- friendly colleagues, no politics
- punctual salary

Hate my job bcos
- 'senior' colleagues, no young people (not that I'm young, BTW)
- not very updated IT-wise (still VB and ASP! no .NET!)
- hierarchical-wise, not much to look forward to
- a few % of increment each year

I think I should follow nar03's opinion of breaking my rice bowl and leave before it's too late.
