After careful comparison, I found that there are 16 apk files missing from the new firmware with 8 missing from /system/app and another 8 missing from /system/priv-app:


Our main concern is regarding the Google Play Store which in turn it requires 3 more apps in order to subscribe to Google Play Service, namely:
1. GmsCore.apk
2. GoogleLoginService.apk
3. GoogleServicesFramework.apk
4. Phonesky.apk

If you are a survivor from this year update that still managed to retain the capability of app installation, either with file manager/remote control by phone/non-stock browser/other third party app store installed, you may proceed with KingRoot installation first.

You cannot simply install them through normal procedure as they will be installed under /data/app. You just need to copy them into /system/priv-app and set their permissions accordingly, i.e. 644 (rw-r--r--) using file manager with root access such as Root Explorer HD which accommodates to TV display and responsive to remote control. You need to reboot after completing that. Voila! You have your old faithful Google Play Store and Google Settings back in no time.

You may be tempted to restore all those apps in /system/app and /system/priv-app. But I advise you better leave them off as they are all outdated and eventually will get updated in /data/app which results in a lot of space being occupied, not to mention some of the stock apps like YouTube never seem to work.

In conclusion, this is not really a third method in restoring Google Play Store which requires you gained app installation capability in the first place and then root access. The well-known method is reverting to old firmware through recovery mode which is the easiest way but you risk of being updated again unless you wipe off the update server address in Settings or never connect using LAN cable which defeats the purpose of receiving HyppTV channels. Another method is using the Huawei STB Management hacking which originated from China and you need a PC to do that. With some luck you may be able getting them connected but most of the time you don’t.

That would be silly and nothing will come of it. TM owed you an STB purely for Hypptv, VOD and interactive viewing. No more no less. Of which, they've delivered. Anything extra you find or break on the device is at your luck and risk. They could have continued using the older non-android OS powered device. So don't complain about "locked" features. Use your money to buy a dedicated Android box. Theirs is shit anyways, locked or unlocked.

Same thing with wifi network or internet speed.. They offer a standard, not their fault if your place is so network-congested. Their contract service to you is "up to" speeds and wired only. Wifi router is just an extra. If you don't like theirs? Buy yours.

TLDR... Read the terms of service and conditions.

hi guys, my hypptv suddenly went bat shit crazy with automatically receive signal / auto press at random. (which of cause not click by me)

is the box kaput or? some times it will be fines for hours. how to debug?

What has changed?

Could it be that it’s also receiving signals from another remote pointed to operate another device that’s within line of sight of its IR receiver? For example, one time, a remote controlled ceiling fan beeps in response to a particular ir code from one of the other media remotes. Possibly cuz both commands share the same code and while pointing at the media device, it’s at an angle and it reaches the fan too.

dont think so, it's definitely internal thing like software. (becaues sometimes it happen without anybody doing anything, and it's routinely press certain buttons at sequence)


just saw somebody mention the box had an auto update from tm last week? could it be when it happen my mom dono anything bout it and just off the power, hence the android fuckup?

how do i update or reset the hypptv stb? also what's the 'maintenance code'? i dont think i had it.
