QUOTE(Jay Chua CC @ Aug 12 2015, 12:00 PM) Yes is 64 GB. No Fingerprint and no NFC too. Both these UNIMPORTANT to me . Never ever used NFC in all my phones and Fingerprint just test for fun onlyComes with Android 5.1.1 by default and was recommended to upgrade to higher version when switched on |

QUOTE(Jay Chua CC @ Aug 12 2015, 12:08 PM) 64gb internal alone makes me drool. While mate 7 still stuck at kit kat. It is infact quite similar in size to XZU except length and width is very slightly bigger onlyThe size similar to Z ultra? since the bezel is kinda small. XZU : 179.4 x 92.2 x 6.5 mm P8 Max : 182.7 x 93 x 6.8 mm |

P8 Max : All reviews were wrong - the main sim card is MICRO-SIM and NOT nano sim as so commonly reported. The phone easily support my Samsung Evo 128 GB Class 10 card ( exFAT format)
Only the second slot which can support an external SDcard supports a NANO simcard Some initial benchmarks I had been testing the phone past 4+ hours and I must say my ex Mate7 ( on KitKatt) seems to be slicker and smoother There were initially some minor issues with certain apps - launching was slow and failed to execute properly. Restarting the phone solve these issues - it could be due to possible incompatibilities with the bigger display and Lollipop issues ?? Apps were Feedly, GReader Pro and Spot News. Well these 3 apps now run fine without problems Multi Windows I found not supported on Nova launcher and only works on default Emoticon UI launcher Battery life appears excellent and I recorded 3.5 hours with about 25 % battery usage - will do a more detailed testing over next few days as battery was not fully charged yet Audio quality is sufficiently good and loud and I am very happy with it. Camera is obviously snappier than Mate 7 and the shots I consider quite good quality too The set does NOT come with all Google stuff. Example it doesn't have Calendar and Contacts sync in the Google account. I installed Google Calendar to sync all my calendar entries with my GMail account. For Contacts initially I installed Contacts+ to sync with my Gmail contacts. However i found installing a GoogleContactsSync APK finally had the contacts in Google account settings This post has been edited by benny888: Aug 12 2015, 06:00 PM |

QUOTE(azeemzuhair @ Aug 12 2015, 11:24 PM) Yes. Unroot bootloader than flash custom recovery through adb/fastboot commands n than flash chainfire supersu.zip through recovery mode.If you checked the web few sites recommend using genius software but is all BS as this software fails to root This post has been edited by benny888: Aug 13 2015, 06:56 AM |

QUOTE(azeemzuhair @ Aug 13 2015, 07:50 AM) U mean unroot or unlock bootloader...? Unlock via Huawei weblink? Sorry unlock bootloaderMost of the time Kirin SoC does not play nice with one-click root/proprietary root apps. So, for novice user that requires root access, ADB command will make them scratch their head...LOL Can change the DPI reso like many other Huawei devices? Is just a simple one sentence command to flash recovery : eg fastboot flash recovery twrp.img. Nothing complicate or difficult Had never bother ever trying change dpi in all my previous HW phones. If rooted don't see why one cannot change it |

QUOTE(azeemzuhair @ Aug 13 2015, 11:23 AM) Thanks for the input. Absolutely no problems. HW traditionally is strong in this vs all other phone manufacturers.I believe the radio signal for P8 Max is at top notch knowing that Huawei internals under the hood is no. 1 in signal strength for GSM, WCDMA, LTE as well as WiFi. Correct? QUOTE(Gouki @ Aug 13 2015, 11:27 AM) uncle benny, what is your summary opinion about your grey import china version P8max? what is the cons n pros compare to your once ultimate phablet like Mate7? thx. Get this only if you like a bigger display. N is main reason why I bought it. Is quite similar to Mate7 n its battery life appears much better. Main cons in HW phones are its slow updates especially on Msian modelsHad mentioned earlier minor deficiences in China phone on Google issues but easily settled |

Unable to write if one hand is on display. Why need to put hand on display when one can easily grip its sides??!
Scrolling n moving among screens , selection n execution of app no issue if one hand on display Writing with stylus can never ever match Note4 accuracy, smoothness n efficiency !! |

Just recieved my 2nd firmware update on the p8max
This China set really get regular updates unlike all HW Msian sets updates are rare n lucky you will get one in a year. I experienced similar scenarios in all previous HW Msian sets - while I see 4-5 updates within 6 months for China n Euro sets , Msian sets remain unchanged for more than 6-9 months!! |

QUOTE(InfoO2 @ Aug 24 2015, 09:28 AM) I paid RM 2160 for the 64GB ( China set) .. the prices overseas are even worse : Nearest Thailand is RM2100+ BUT only for 32GB and China itself is RM2.4K.In Europe it is a staggering : 32 GB for Euro 549 ( RM 2652) and 64GB for Euro 649 ( RM 3136) - blame the depreciating ringgit for these pricing !! It is up to you to decide whether the higher price of P8Max is worth it over the lower end X2 I decided to buy it as I find the pricing of the 64GB is attractive enough . I still don't know how the seller can sell at such a lower pricing vs China itself ?? This post has been edited by benny888: Aug 24 2015, 10:05 AM |

QUOTE(InfoO2 @ Aug 24 2015, 10:20 AM) I can't see too much different beside storage and ram between these 2 device, enlighten me Just type p8 max in search box and you can see it. Price has now INCREASE to RM 2250Where do you bought it? I search lelong but doesn't have any. http://www.lelong.com.my/6-8-huawei-p8-max...6-07-Sale-P.htm The P8 Max is of very obvious nicer build quality ( looks much classier) , slightly slimmer and thinner cum lighter. Its chip is higher end Kirin 935 vs 930 of X2. Its WIFI is more featured : Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dual-band, DLNA, WiFi Direct, hotspot vs Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, dual-band, hotspot. Storage option of P8Max is 32 or 64 gb vs 16 or 32GB for X2 Again is your choice to decide whether it is worth it ! |
