Unsuccessful attempt in trying to register for this AmBank's True Savers account via their link: http://www.truebyambank.com/trueproducts/Pages/index.aspx
Seems like AmBank's online portal is full of errors of some kind (eg. error message from their website when I tried clicking on the online registration form to register for True Savers account for example; tried doing it during office hours also no difference...)

Finally, I drove over to the AmBank's branch & request to open True Savers account (already filled up & signed the required form)..., but I was then notified that I "may not be eligible" to open True Savers account when/if I am not working/have a full-time job with a company, or a student studying in college for example... (Yes, I am not employed & already graduated from uni, but I am doing some kind of freelance, some part time direct sales like, & some passive-income things online, so how...) (So they told me that they would have to see how..., about whether the manager can approve my registration or not... Have to wait & see...)

I wonder is it normal for the procedure to be like that...? rclxub.gif

Since when? There's nothing in their term and conditions. I am a student and I managed to open. Go to ambank, take opening account no. When you are called, tell them you want to open Truesavers, fill up the form, sign and wait. You do not need to go back and forth to ambank. Just wait there until they process finished.

I just told them that I am a student attending some part time classes , so they then told me to produce a letter (from the institution that I'm studying at) to indicate that I am a student...

(But actually my classes haven't even commence yet, & then I may also decide NOT to register/attend this classes at all... So I won't be able to provide any letter indicating that I am a student... Unless I just provide them with my past university's student ID card & see whether they can accept it or not...)

But anyway they-Ambank took my True Savers registration form & told me to wait for their manager's approval...

I drove over to AmBank's branch to inquire about my True Savers account application once again, but the bank officer told me that seeking approval needs time (!)... shakehead.gif

I successfully opened a Maybank2u savings account (with almost 2.5% interest credited monthly) online, & it took me less than 10 minutes for the process to be completed. thumbup.gif (Now I already transferred most of my savings into M2u savers.)

Recently I also went over to Hong Leong's bank branch to open a savings account there as well, & the whole process only took less than 10 minutes.

BTW, I would be taking a look at OCBC's Premier Savings Account (3.0% interest).

Ocbc not worth. To get 3%, you need to topup min rm1k/month.  Any withdrawal will cause the interest to drop to 0.5% for that month. Better you put 1 month maybank Islamic efd at 3.25% if like that.

Go to another ambank branch. Don't talk anything. Just fill up the form ans sign.

Thanks for the advice. I'll look into it.

I applied for the True credit card a week ago through their website and there was no problem for me.  thumbup.gif

keith_22b, which branch did you go to? And how long did you have to wait?
*
They told me they would give me a call, but until now nothing... It is the branch in Cheras... (Technically still waiting until now... rclxub.gif )

Very good for you managed to get it done online. (Maybe I screwed-up the registration by leaving the page for too long until the session expired, then it was no longer possible for me to attempt anymore; because of repeating error message after...)

(After driving over to the branch in Cheras again for the 3rd time to inquire about my account's approval, I was told that the person in charged was not present & will only come back next Monday; so they told me to wait again).

So I decided to drive over to the main Ambank's HQ in KL... I went there today to register for this True Savings account (said that I'm a student + doing freelance), & then guess what...; they did not asked me for a written letter from my institution of study nor to produce my student ID card...; instead they immediately proceed to open the True Savers account for me without any further delays & then finally hand me my MasterCard in less than 30 minutes - activated! thumbup.gif

But I won't have any interest benefits for this month or so from True account because of taking the wrong turn on the highway today & had to pay RM2.50 for toll + forced to buy a useless T&G card (which I don't need/use) for RM20.60 because I basically drove into the T&G only lane without knowing & then I couldn't reverse back out because a super long queue was already developed behind me lol... So basically just driving over to Ambank today to open this True account has cost me more than what the 2.8% interest can give me for this month & perhaps even the next... tongue.gif rolleyes.gif

BTW interestingly, I also have 2 online AmBank accounts right now (because due to an error occurred when I was in the process of registering for the first one, I proceeded to register for another account with a different user nickname but still using same IC number & guess what, it was approved... I tried logging in back to that first account & it was suddenly working perfectly; so I now have two working online accounts in AmBank... unsure.gif ) I tried to create a 3rd account with another different nickname with my IC No. (just to try again see how) but it wouldn't be approved anymore lol...

Congrats. rclxms.gif now you have 2 account = 6x free transaction /month. tongue.gif on to serious matter better call up customer service to rectify it. Cause if the first account cannot work and you deposit money inside, you  might not be able to withdraw out.

Wow, thanks for informing me. I'll definitely look into it. (I do not want things to turn out serious & problematic next time...)
