I got the Debit Card a few weeks ago but have not received the PIN yet until today. I called TRUE CS a few days ago and was told they would check with admin dept. & get back to me. Unfortunately, I have not heard from them since.

Anyone knows whether online payment for Astro bill is eligible for 3% rebate?
I know the following categories are excluded: - a) Mobile Bill Payment (MCC 4813, 4814) b) Utilities (MCC 4900) c) Insurance (MCC 5960, 6300) Which category does Astro belongs to? |

QUOTE(Ramjade @ Apr 9 2016, 11:39 AM) Precisely my though after reading the explanation by cybpsych. Personally, I do not think that RHB Bonus Saver's rate is good at all. OCBC SmartSavers is better in my opinion as you can get 2.9% p.a. by depositing only RM50 a month with no withdrawals. If there is any withdrawal in the month, the rate drops to 0.5%. cybpsych gave me the idea of creating multiple RM1k placement and use those 1k placement upon needed. Glad we could come to a conclusion. cybpsych good job. RHB Bonus Saver rate starts at 0.25% which is lower than 0.5% from SmartSavers. You need to deposit extra RM500 every month to get the bonus interest which is 0.2% p.a. every month. The bonus interest keeps increasing every month but you need to keep depositing RM500 extra every month. The max you can get from the 13th month onwards is only 2.75% p.a. which is lower than 2.9%. Although you can withdraw from the Bonus Saver account, the incremental average balance need to be RM500 or else you will not get the bonus interest. So, not much difference than not able to withdraw the money at all. I do not know what would happen if you were to stop halfway, how RHB would calculate the interest. Start from scratch at 0.25% again or start from where you left but either way, it's complicated & I think it's not worth the effort. Btw, the promo for OCBC SmartSavers 3.9% p.a. is still ongoing but only for new accounts. QUOTE(sunnie11 @ Apr 9 2016, 12:12 PM) guys, can someone explain to me about the GIA-i which is 4.0%pa and what is the meaning of profit sharing ration 70:30,is it we 2.8% and bank 1.2%? 4% is your share after taking into account the PSR, meaning you will get 4% profit based on your placement amount. |

QUOTE(Ramjade @ Apr 9 2016, 06:41 PM) Actually I am looking for long term usage. As I mentioned, OCBC smartsavers, once you withdraw, the interest for that month becomes 0.5%. So if it's 0.5% where are you going to park your to use money? OCBC might be higher than RHB but the 0.5% is major thorn. On the other hand, after 1 year, I am free to withdraw any amount from RHB and still get 2.65% (no penalty) without the need to topup RM500/month anymore. You have got a point if that is your intention. Only drawback is you will lose interest for the 1st year. But I think I am not going to open the RHB because the Maybank eGIA-i exist. QUOTE(aromachong @ Apr 10 2016, 10:08 AM) You cannot get the promotion for your existing SmartSavers account for sure. I am not sure if you can get the promotion or not if you were to open another SmartSavers account (SmartSavers-i, the islamic 1 perhaps). You need fresh fund for this, so cannot just transfer from existing OCBC account to the new SmartSavers-i account. Confirm with the bank if you are interested. Promo ending 30/4. |

QUOTE(??!! @ Apr 24 2016, 01:22 PM) Enquired at the MBB branch in my area, 2 months back, no one knows about GIA-i account. Now, they tell me the GIA-i works like the normal FD..no interest payable for premature withdrawal. I said ...info i gather seems to suggest otherwise, can please check with HO? Few officers said no need to check..very sure , no interest will be given. I was tempted to test the system with a minimum amount placement. Asked if the amount at withdrawal is auto generated? they said no...so they will not give me any interest for premature withdrawal. Haiz... QUOTE(aromachong @ Apr 24 2016, 02:10 PM) Do not trust everything the bank's staff tell you. I have come across a few staff who know nothing about their bank's products & promotions. It's confirmed there will be interest for premature withdrawal. It's stated on their website. Many people here including myself have tried it before. Try it yourself to confirm if it is true. Place 1k for 2 months, withdraw it a few days later. It would be easier to do it online if you have maybank2u. Else, need to uplift at the counter. If you happen to be at the counter with the lazy staff, he/she might show you a black face. |
