Hi all! I hope this thread is still valid.

I'm a fairly new part-time private tuition teacher and lately my student is often rescheduling classes due to currently having mid term exams now or is too busy with last minute extra curricular work/homework.

Once or twice is fine but so far it has already happened about 4 times the past 6 weeks, (usually postponement, but sometimes outright CANCELLING class) and the student often gives me less than 24 hours notice. I plan my week (including my full time job) around our scheduled classes so it is very frustrating sometimes when class is cancelled/postponed and I end up wasting time and effort I had spent preparing for the class.

So I'm here wanting to ask for kind advice from any experienced private home tutors out there. How do you deal with last minute class cancellations/postponement? Do you charge any penalty fee? Is this sort of thing common in the private tuition industry?

Thank youuuuuuuu!
