I'm using Canon LiDE500, come with OSX PPC driver & software. Their website provide OSX Intel driver & software. Check on their product spec, certain model are labeled as
Mac compatible.

UMAX also have Mac support, but I'm unsure about which model.

Regarding speed, this is very subjective. What quality you are scanning? What's the scan area? What's the color mode? How many DPI? Any enlargement?

And most important, what's your budget? If budget doesn't concern you. I suggest you look into UMAX, as their hi-end scanner are popular among professional.

i just done some test. this is the result based on an A4 page scanning:
colour @ 300dpi 24sec
colour @ 75dpi 13sec
grayscale @ 150dpi 15sec
B&W @ 150dpi 15sec

I start the stopwatch at the moment i click on "scan". Stop when the scan menu are back on selectable again.

no problem I can think off.
it's very quiet compare to 5-6 scanner i've used in the past.
it's slim & no bulky external adapter as it use USB 2.0 to power up.

give it a try and u might like it too
