I contacted one of the agent there and they told me that I can bring my iphone there and trade in with the value, and from that value it will deduct the price of the device + comes along with the plan. So, after that the agent told me again that except from all that, I will be charge first with RM 512 because I will be switching from another carrier to Maxis, I don't get it, why charge that much just to switch over? Anyone experience this before and how does it actually work?

So to cut it short, to get the iPhone 6 that I want, I have to trade in my iPhone 4s = 400 @ value shown at their website + the plan ( with the phone 1.2k for iPhone 6 ) + 512 = 1.7k+

Also, how many phones can I trade in for?

Advice and opinions?

Hi @Sotsotzaii
There are no additional fees for switching over to Maxis. In fact, you'll get RM50 rebated in your bill over the first 2 months.

For the RM512, I believe it might be for the advance device payment?

Hi, from what I heard when I go to maxis, they say you can avoid the rm 512 payment if you are an existing maxis customer, can I get some confirmation on this?

Advance payment can be waived if you're an existing customer with good payment record. Hope this helps.

Haha. Not sure about that. But I doubt one month of paying bills on time will qualify.

Advance payment is just payment you make upfront. You'll eventually get rebated over the course of the contract.

It's basically a telco's way to get some security over the subsidised device. So that any fella won't be able to sign contract, get the phone and cabut lari without fulfilling the contract.

Oh I see, so let's say the device price is at 1.6k after trade in, and add another 512 to the cost, do I need to pay the 512 immediately or can I just pay for the 1.6 first?

Buddy,

As i know for new user you have to pay the RM512 but the amount will be refunded back in the next 4 months that means RM128 per month(512/4).
And RM512 you have to pay during you purchase the device. No any exceptional for new user..hehe
So, for ur case 512+1.6k rclxms.gif

Just a side question, coz my mum is worried that maxis will give out a fake iphone, so has there been any cases of maxis as of that? To me, I don't think they would.

Fake iPhones? Fat chance of that happening tongue.gif

Anyways, know how you feel since it's no small amount to pay

Try checking the device IMEI via this Apple link Apple IMEI check
I used it when i bought my mini ipad icon_rolleyes.gif

Yeah, what I thought too.

But I mean, if someone wants to get a iPhone, does the best price comes from purchasing it right from apple store or?

Well, essentially you're getting the same iphone. Apple sells them at their full retail prices while telcos are selling at a discounted price.
Difference is telcos require you to register with a call plan contract. People don't mind this cause with or without the contract, they do spend a certain amount monthly on their phone bills.

I see. Yeah, so far the most attractive one comes from Maxis, the Maxis ONEPlan offer, plus with the trade in, I think it's worth a go, although there's a monthly commitment, but getting it straight from apple store is like 3k+ for a 64GB, kinda ex to think of cash.
