Struggling to find money for fighters and heli still wanna buy Mistral? Maybe to ferry tanks to Esscom but idk... it is an opportunity but surely it will be expensive :/

Japan's largest is the Shikishima class. Armament: 2 × Oerlikon 35 mm twin cannon, 2 × JM61 20mm gun. Aircraft carried: 2 × Eurocopter AS332

Even if the Japanese ship is larger (mainly for endurance purposes), the Chinese ship is much more powerfully armed.

The escalation is already happening. What the Japanese are going to do is transfer two of their older destroyers to the "Coast Guard" fleet to match the Haijing 2901, though (for now) without antiship missiles.
