RMAF using C-130H getting in 1976-1980 15 unit...  also get 5 unit C130H-30 at 1995.
about 40 year using already.
now getting 4 unit airbus A400M to replace it, but still no enough, need 4 more.
last time news said our C-130H will fly until 2022... C130H-30 at lease until 2030.
*
but how long are this air frame rated for?

i mean if it's build to fly for 40-50years, then ok la,

see see air frame only can last 5,000 hours, then we are a flying catastrophes

Mindef didn't promote extensively to the graduates the opportunities and benefits in joining the military

they should also create a new scheme for diploma graduates too so that students like me can join..I don't have the passion to further degree after this..lulz.. laugh.gif

iinm, right now they only have scheme for degree graduates..

and lastly, would it kill the gov to increase the basic salary for the military just a little bit more..asyik penjawat awam in other sector je yang dapat kenaikan beratus2..

"We do not aim to defeat China," del Rosario said. "But our goal is make any state think twice before attacking. We will make sure anybody attacking us would end up with a bloodied nose."

So means they'll punch their own nose if some attack them?

Hahaha

Not only AH6i, also MD530D alot people still aim cheap price.
Agree, i still prefer ESSCOM and all other country area  use proper Attack helicopter, due to long range needed and fire power, also distance to base and sea require long range. prefer,WZ10, Tiger or T129 Atak, all can fly more than 500km with weapon. we need more bigger picture.

but these are the heavy weight over kill against insurgent that practices guerilla warfare.

it'll take long prep time to launch and probably not as agile as fast/light attach chopper.

no doubt it'll still solve the problem with the insurgency,

but imagine carrying a .50Cal sniper rifle into a paint ball fight

overkill and over cost.

Looks very utilitarian... But is it combat effective?

Probably not for an offensive monuevere, but what are its defensive capability?

Or with it be constantly escorted by another ship?

Formidable is still the best warship in ASEAN, lot's more firepower...Thai's Naresuan class is probably the second best.

Gowind is more comparable to Indonesia's PKR 10514 class, in terms of technology and firepower
*
formidable is not doubt very multi purpose and pack a punch and could be a all rounder.

but putting Naresuan (10years old) as second best is confusing!

other than its high capacity for seasparrow missile, there's nothing to it anymore i suppose

then the PKR 10514, its about half the size of gowind,

and it's armament are definitely less technological then gowind.

how does this makes out gowind comparable.

Russia to start deployment of nanotech body armor from 2015

Russian defense officials inspecting new designs for military body armor systems

The Russian armed forces will start the deployment of body armor made with Boron Carbide powder to increase the survival rates of their soldiers. A Russian company is developing nanotechnology that would allow production of light-weight ceramic armor for the military and police as early as by the end of 2015.

Ceramic armor plates manufactured with the use of Boron Carbide powder will be used to make bulletproof vests, armor protection for combat vehicles and even for combat aircraft as they would be four times lighter than the existing armor plates.

“The effectiveness of protection will be 5-6 times higher than that of existing armor while the price will drop by up to 25 percent compared to existing models,” Izvestia cited officials from the Novosibirsk-based NEVZ-Soyuz company.

According to the company, boron carbide armor plates used in bulletproof vests would ensure effective protection from 7.62-mm rounds while vehicle armor would be able stop 12.7-mm and 14.5-mm rounds.

Also on a related front, reports also say the Russian armed forces are starting to supply its elite Spetznaz special forces with special 5.45mm and 7.62mm rounds with a Tungsten Carbide armor-piercing core. It is reported that the bullets are specially designed to defeat western-designed body armor up to level IV protection.

PH Navy christens 2 brand new choppers, 2 supply ships

MARITIME SURVEILLANCE. Christening of armed Augusta Westland naval chopper. PH Navy photo

MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine Navy on Monday morning, August 10, christened two brand new choppers and two hand-me-down supply ships from Australia.

Bottles of champagne were poured onto the nose of the choppers while bottles of wine were smashed for the good luck and safe travel of the vessels.

The new choppers boost the Philippine Navy's maritime surveillance capability while the two Landing Craft Heavy (LCH) vessels allow easier transport of troops and cargo from one operational area to another.

The two Agusta Westland 109 naval choppers are armed with caliber 50 machine gun and 2.75-inch rockets. It will improve the navy's maritime air surveillance and close air support for ground troops because of its maritime surveillance capability, amphibious air support operations, weather search radar and forward looking infrared systems.

Unarmed versions of the choppers are already working in tandem with the country's two most capable warships – Barkong Republika ng Pilipinas (BRP) Gregorio Del Pilar and BRP Ramon Alcaraz – in patrolling the West Philippine Sea (South China Sea).

SUPPLY SHIP. The two supply ships, gifts from Australia, are christened on Monday, August 10

The newly acquired LCH vessels from Australia from were named BRP Ivatan (AT-298) and BRP Batak (AT-299) to honor the ethnic groups of Palawan and Batanes.

These vessels will boost the navy's capability to transport personnel and equipment during military operations or during humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations.

“These new assets are manifestations of our navy’s optimum readiness to perform its tasks and the ability to adapt vis-avis the emergent operating environment. This special occasion likewise signifies the assurance from your navy of renewed strength and vigor in accomplishing our mandates," said outgoing Navy Chief Vice Admiral Jesus Millan. – Carmela Fonbuena/Rappler.com

Indon understandable la, their threat level higher!

But on what ground does Pinoy pose a higher threat than thai?

Pinoy still sees Sabah as theirs and may act in the future, perhaps even militarily ( laugh.gif ) to recover it. Also Mindanao rebels.

With Indon we're almost locked in an ongoing border disputes that can escalate dangerously, given oil is involved.
In contrast with Indon and Pinoy, Thailand has no outstanding formal issues with Malaysia (besides some grumbles here and there when Southern Thai separatists cross the border into Kelantan each time Thai authorities go after them)
*
I don't want look down on Pinoy la, since I like traveling for the beaches and food!

But sometime they need to really sedar diri abit, but lately with US injecting military assert and Japan pumping in infra development, they might not be doing too bad themselves!

Case Sabah is gone for them la, I think sabahan rather be independent state than joining Pinoy! Lol!

I suppose with the acquisition of new att heli for that area and new deployment there, case should reduce and cease if we really go after them!

Actually I Nvr knew there's any conflict of interest bt mas and thai! There're like mas and sg, we coexisted very peacefully what!
