well, for china, they look down all asean navy now, they only respect US navy, there military poeple view asean even all navy except US navy.
They just think all asean/asia navu ship just there missile traning target, look down capability.
they china already plan 40,000 tons LHD, there philosophy now is must design ship more or less same size with US navy ship or bigger then US ship.
mistral ship long tima ago already look down by them and they view is rubbish ship.

we no have AAW frigate to protect Mistral ship, also at normal day, mostly just use as logistic transport ship, also need a lease a small frigate escort, during emergency only can keep in base.

Malaysia Langgar Batas Wilayah TNI AU Siapkan 4 Sukho

TARAKAN - Pelanggaran yang kian sering dilakukan negara tetangga, Malaysia membuat TNI Angkatan Udara mulai menyikapi secara khusus.

TNI Angkatan Udara mendatangkan satu flight pesawat tempur Sukhoi, terdiri dari empat unit pesawat ke Tarakan, Kalimantan Utara, untuk menjaga perbatasan dari gangguan negara asing.

Komandan Pangkalan TNI Angkatan Udara (Lanud) Tarakan, Letkol Pnb Tiopan Hutapea mengatakan Operasi yang dilakukan pesawat Sukhoi tersebut sejatinya adalah jawaban dari pelanggaran yang kerap dilakukan negara Malaysia terhadap kedaulatan NKRI.

“Sebelum nantinya dalam waktu jangka panjangnya otomatis Tarakan ini akan ditingkatkan kemampuan dan daya gempurnya,” kata Tiopan, seperti dikutip dari Radar Tarakan (Grup translampung.com), Senin (10/8).

Untuk menjadikan atau menaikkan status Lanud Tarakan tak semudah yang dilakukan. Karena, harus banyak yang perlu ditambahkan dan diperhatikan. Kedatangan Sukhoi kali ini juga sangkut pautnya dengan peningkatan status Lanud Tarakan.

“Sementara belum ada pelanggaran udara yang terjadi selama satu bulan terakhir. Kami akan memantau terus melalui Satrad 225 selama 24 jam terus menerus dimonitor,” jelas Tiopan.

Dari pantauan radar Satrad 225 Tarakan, ada beberapa objek asing yang tertangkap berada di dekat wilayah perbatasan, walaupun dinyatakan tidak ada pelanggaran dalam sebulan terakhir.

“Kami bisa lihat urgensinya, apakah dia dari satu titik ke titik yang lain tetapi meliper ke perbatasan, itu mau ngapain" Itukan istilah kami mengintip,” jelas Tiopan.

Lebih jelas, pelanggaran yang terjadi di Sebatik oleh helikopter Malaysia sebuah helikopter sipil. Namun, dalam pelanggaran udara, tidak ada mengenal pesawat militer atau pesawat sipil, karena masalah kedaulatan negara.

“Kedaulatan negara harus ditangani kalau provokatornya adalah pesawat udara harus ditahan atau dihadang dengan pesawat udara,” tuntas Tiopan. (win/jpnn/rm1/tnn)

well, An-70 basically dead project due unreliable D27 turboprop, and fund to continue testing, also Russia put out this project, and claim 50% copyright
so Ukraine introduce AN-188 which using An-70 body with Ivchenko-Progress D-436-FM turbofan concept.
but than still hard for people believe Ukraine can continue finish project,
and have budget/capability to produce and world wide support/maintenance, also future enhance capability.
well if no getting over 100 booking, basically hard for other country air force buy this plane.

Purchase Of ATM Assets Continues Global Economic Downturn - Hishammuddin

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 27 (Bernama) -- The acquisition of Armed Forces (ATM) assets under the 11th Malaysia Plan is continued although the country is facing global economic challenges.

Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein said this included the upgrading of the 'Nuri' Sikorsky S61A-4 helicopter, Hercules C-130, Admiral Class Corvette and the acquisition of other assets for the three wings of ATM.

"We are not denying the world, regional and national economic situations are very challenging. But..I am confident we can face this challenge with careful planning by the ministry and ATM.

"It will not affect the core business of ATM, namely, to ensure national security and also give priority to the morale and welfare of our personnel and veterans," he told a media conference after handing over education excellent awards to children of ATM personnel here, today.

The ceremony saw 230 children of ATM personnel in the Klang Valley, who were outstanding in the Form Three Assessment and Malaysia Evaluation Certificates, being awarded.

In another development, Hishammuddin he said he would be receiving French Defence Minister Jean Yves Le Drian on Tuesday and, among others, was expected to discuss the acquisition of the French Dassault Aviation Rafale company multi role combat aircraft.

He said the decision on the acquisition of the asset which was earlier shortlisted to replace the MiG-29 jet, depended on the financial package offered, other than the final approval from the Finance Ministry.

"In this matter, the ministry will look at the need and will try to get the best financial package," he said.

On March 2013, Malaysia shortlisted five fighter jets, namely, Eurofighter Typhoon built by the European consortium comprising BAE Systems, EADS and Finmeccanica; Dassault Aviation Rafale; Boeing s F/A 18E/F Super Hornet; Russian made Sukhoi Su-30 and Swedish made SAAB JAS-39 Gripen.

Earlier, he also launched the documentary 'Helicopter Heroes' which was about the determination of the crew and pilot of the Nuri helicopters.

The one-hour documentary would be aired on Astro channel 555 or 575 History Channel Asia on Sunday, 10 pm and Monday at 6 am, 11 am and 3 pm.
