Johor Sultan advises Special Forces regiment not to be involved in politics
MERSING: The Sultan of Johor Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar today advised members of the Special Forces Regiment not to be involved in any political parties to uphold the good name of the regiment and not to accept blindly information disseminated via the Internet. The Sultan also reminded military leaders and honorary officers not to wear decorations like badges and wings all the time as according to procedures, they should only be worn during certain occasions only. “If one really wants to wear the wing badge all the time, I suggest they make the jump first. At least the wing pinned on the chest really has value and not just a decoration to complete the uniform,” he said. Sultan Ibrahim also reminded all members of the regiment to be prepared for any future challenges in the modern and developing military era now. He hoped the Defence Ministry would give more attention to the needs of the regiment considering it is a frontline force in combating incidents affecting the country’s peace and sovereignty. Pix by Hairul Anuar Abd Rahim He stressed that his presence as Colonel Commandant of the regiment was not just as a figure head but to ensure the regiment continued to progress. He was also disappointed that several programmes to develop the regiment with new facilities have yet to be implemented. On the 50th anniversary of the regiment which was set up on Aug 1, 1965, he wanted members of the force to empower the institution with their full commitment as the success today was the sweat and tears of previous members. In the past 50 years, the commandos had served and sacrificed for the people, he said. --Bernama Read More : http://www.nst.com.my/node/97773 means got people wear badges they dont earn? |

QUOTE(DDG_Ross @ Aug 27 2015, 01:07 AM) doesnt matter for bolkiah at least he is actually a member of the military himself (supreme commander of brunei armed forces), but in case of hishammudin he can be seen wearing military uniform plus the badge even in non-military event essentially abusing his position as defence minister deswai the jab from sultan johor, get it? QUOTE(BorneoAlliance @ Aug 29 2015, 04:33 PM) DARPA's Next Generation Drone Will Launch and Land on Moving Airplanes ![]() These "gremlins," as the researchers at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) have dubbed them, would be cheaper than standard drones and have a lifespan of about 20 flights. DARPA envisions the gremlins as a middle ground between missile-like weapons, which can be used just once, and platforms like piloted aircraft, which are expensive, complex and long-lasting. "We wouldn't be discarding the entire airframe, engine, avionics and payload with every mission, as is done with missiles, but we also wouldn't have to carry the maintainability and operational cost burdens of today's reusable systems, which are meant to stay in service for decades," the agency said in a statement. To launch these gremlins, the military wants to turn large C-130 cargo planes into makeshift aircraft carriers. But first, researchers will have to develop the gremlins. DARPA put out a call last year to the aerospace industry, and on Friday announced it will host a workshop in September for potential "proposers." http://sputniknews.com/us/20150829/1026323...e-pentagon.html QUOTE(kerolzarmyfanboy @ Aug 29 2015, 08:28 PM) tissue kot |

This Soldier Was Kind To 3 Stray Dogs. What They Did When A Suicide Bomber Approached Is Unbelievable!
When Sgt. Chris Dukes, a National Guardsmen from Georgia, USA, was on tour in Afghanistan, he made friends with a few locals on four legs – Target, Sasha and Rufus. “A lot of us used the three of them as kind of an escape, you know when you’re home sick,” Dukes told CBS news reporter Jeff Glor. But the dogs proved to be so much more than just a reminder of home. In fact, Dukes firmly believes he wouldn’t be alive today if weren’t for Rufus. Why? QUOTE(BorneoAlliance @ Aug 31 2015, 05:54 PM) Old Soviet Missile Makes Easy Work of US M1 Abrams Tank (VIDEO) saudi m1 is diff from us m1![]() The video below shows what are said to be Houthi rebels in Yemen using old Soviet-designed Fagot anti-tank guided missiles to destroy American-made, Saudi Arabian-owned and operated Abrams M1 main battle tanks. A direct hit by a Fagot missile at the M1’s turret led to the detonation of the tank’s ordnance payload stored in the turret’s back. This is the weakest spot of America’s main battle tank, which leaves the crew with virtually no chance of survival. It was with this possibility in mind that Russia’ new Armata tank features an uninhabited turret. The Fagot antitank missile system entered operational service in 1970. Its missile uses a 2.5 kg High Explosive Anti-Tank (HEAT) warhead which can penetrate up to 600 mm of conventional steel armor and has an effective range of up to 2,500 m through the use of an improved solid propellant sustainer rocket motor and lengthened guidance wire. http://sputniknews.com/middleeast/20150831...ms-missile.html |

![]() ![]() RSS Resilience successfully disrupted a sea robbery in the Singapore Strait this morning. At 9.07am, a Malaysian-flagged tugboat, Permata 1, reported sighting four perpetrators boarding their barge when transiting along East Singapore Strait. Our patrol vessel RSS Resilience was immediately deployed to the vicinity and the presence of our ship forced the perpetrators to flee southerly towards Indonesian waters. At the same time, our Information Fusion Centre (IFC) shared information of the incident with the Indonesian Navy and the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency, which led to the successful capture of the perpetrators and recovery of the stolen cargo. RSS Resilience accompanied Permata 1 safely to Singapore waters where the Police Coast Guard boarded the tugboat for investigation. Bravo Zulu to the men and women of RSS Resilience and the prompt actions by IFC! ![]() ![]() |
