I would like to purchase another prime lens for my a7 camera.
currently I'm using SEL2870 (28-70 FE3.5-5.6)

What are the choices available with budget below RM 1.5K

after read and watch review, it seems like i should get the 35mm but i still need second opinion though..

you are the best judge.. look at your existing photo exif data.. your best shots and framing distance will be a good indicator.. That was how I discovered 90mm was my choice prime lens and it was accurate enough.. I hardly use my 28, 45 and 50 Zeiss though I will sometimes go for the 50 when the occasion calls.

35mm is wide angle on ff camera. For street photography usually, 50mm is considered closest to human's eye view and best to create distance between subject but still close enough to be personal. If you primarily shoot background scene 35mm. If you like to have human element, 50mm (if got) is better all rounder. If you are sneaky type, longer prime would be ideal.

one of the reason is i would like to travel compact and bring minimum gear during traveling.. at the moment 28-70 is serving me quite well, but it's always good to have small compact but powerful lens.

previously when i am using canon 6d i love the character of 24-70 lens, serve all purpose..
somehow i don't feel i find it in this current sony 28-70 because 1 of it: no macro. i need at least 40cm to get a good focus on an object.

MFD on the canon 2470 is 37cm the entire range, SEL 2870's MFD is 30cm (wide) - 45cm (tele). One's a constant f/2.8, another's a f/3.5-5.6. Both don't do true macro, if you're looking for macro, it's a better choice to get a true macro. If image quality isn't your concern, get a 55mm +2 macro filter to help you on the fly. Doesn't add any weight to your bag.

A crazy suggestion (but a viable one)on the other hand is to get an SEL 30mm f/3.5 macro for less than RM1k. Cheaper still if 2nd hand. Downside is it'll be cropped to APSC, about 45mm full frame angle of view. Still plenty of megapixels to use from the A7's 24mp.

Thx dude.. i like ur crazy suggestion.. but how about third party lens, anything that u can recommend?
during traveling i wont concern much about resolution as long as the pixel is clear enough. not to blow up picture like studio quality. A3 is the biggest size i will go, and rarely will be bigger than that..

Resolution is not just about blowing up to canvas size. Its about leaving enough detail for cropping. With higher mp, it can sometimes compensate longer tele lens by cropping out the frame.
