Check your company policy whether your position is guaranteed or not after your sabbatical ends. My ex company (MNC, 80k employees) HR policy very clearly says the position is NOT guaranteed. I know of one case a senior manager went for a year sabbatical, halfway through they hired a replacement. After he came back, he was given a couple of months to find another role within the organization or gtfo.
