Hello all. I decided to start a thread on my photo collections of great hotels and resorts in Malaysia. I realised I have too many of these photos, some of these are worth to be shared. Enjoy!

It's a newly-refurbished hotel. Remember Hotel Grand Maya? Now it is converted into a fabulous urban-boutique resort. I had a wonderful time here, especially at the swimming pool called (called Hydrotherapy Pool). The room was very nice too, with way too much mirrors smile.gif

This hotel has been around Putrajaya for a while. Didn't know how beautiful the hotel is. You guys should check out the infinity-pool, HEHE. The interior design of the hotel is amazing, not to mention the luxurious room. Simply a memorable 2-night stay here.

Nice architecture. Something like a "Gothic" building I think. The room is nice. Pool is huge, divided into regular pool and kid's pool. The hotel itself can be crowded because it is quite popular even among the locals brining families here.

Often regarded as the most "chic" hotel in KL. I really loved the room. The pool is quite nice but nothing that spectacular. Did I mention about the 42" LCD TV? Haha..

Quite a regular resort, but the pool is amazing! Infinity concept that stretches back to the open ocean. Very nice. Otherwise, just a normal resort in terms of facilities. Close to the Merang Jetty where you can get to Pulau Redang and Pulau Lang Tengah.

Well, some hotels/resorts do justify their pricing with great rooms and services. Some simply did not, at least to my perception. I guess it is part of my hobby to take hundreds of photos in each hotel that I stayed in. Plus, I think most hotel websites have really misleading and outdated photos, HEHE.

I'll post more pics later. Got this one super-nice floating-resort in Terengganu that I thought was really amazing.

Agreed ... some of them was like "Hallo, can I take some pics for your brochure/website, you guys are so outdated!" tongue.gif

So many places and so many vacation spots undiscovered ... and it's STILL in Malaysia. I believe in Cuti-cuti Malaysia, so many beautiful places are still out there in our own country.

Haha, you are so funny, but what you said is VERY true. I've seen really disgusting brochures when the hotel/resort itself offers so much better than the lousy brochure design.

Definitely, most hotels and resorts offer really good opportunities for indoor shots. Apart from airports (I've taken some nice shots of KLIA, new Kuching airport, etc. HEHE

That's true. But 90% of the hotels I stayed in is through company's expenses, haha. Otherwise I stayed at cheap hotels lor.

This is quite an *old* city hotel. But the interior has been extensively redesigned. Very modern! I loved the room also. I haven't seen a hotel doing an "indoor balcony" but this one has. But pool is very small. Great sea view and the sunset of Kota Kinabalu.

Before or after climbing Mt Kinabalu, maybe you can stay at the resort at the base station. Some of the lodges look like somewhere in the Alps, not in Malaysia. Heater and hot shower are provided because it can get really cold at night!

Not all luxury lor, some just regular but *nice* business hotels, especially in KL. A night stay can go for close to RM300/night, especially in newer hotels.

Quite nice architecture. Something like a cruise-ship design. Great views of the Labuan Harbour. The room was so-so, a slight disappointment for a Sheraton brand. The pool was very nice, especially when you make an outdoor shot at night.

Well, since hotels are taking out RM200-300 of your money per night, they really have to do the landscaping and furnishing nicely.

To me, SERVICE is the key to good stay, no use decorating the hotel like a palace or super-squeeky clean marble floor but the workers there put on sour look or black faces. Sometimes, all I need is a newspaper hanging on my door knob in the morning, or a 'Good Morning sir' as I reach the Cafe for my breakfast or when I exit the lift ... really makes my day staying there.

ac98. true. But since we're mostly talking about photography here (just like meredzone said, "indoor shots"), the architecture itself is quite important.

Make no mistake, I've experienced poor services here and there, no doubt.

Some sort of Mediterranean architecture. Love the main entrance building. And the swimming pool, wow, not bad at all. Plus there's a marina near the resort. Great place for photography.

More of a modern glassy structure. Room was disappointing. But the swimming pool is amazing! Plus there is a private beach and superb golf course view.

The newest hotel in Kota Kinabalu. The lobby was OK, nothing great. But the room is very spacious and well-appointed. Big bathroom too. Swimming pool is quite small but it located some floors up, providing great ocean view and tantalising sunsets.

Simply Malaysia's best kept secret. Really. The architecture. The room. Simple yet amazing. Who says one has to travel to Bali for this kind of resort :-)

Also has a turtle hatchery and you can see hundreds of baby turtles in the make-shift pool before they are released into the wide open sea. Hopefully they will return back to Terengganu.

One of the earliest resorts in Sabah. Fronting the always-beautiful azure-blue South China Sea. The room was kind of disappointing but it was under renovation. Most amazing sunset. Well maintained tropical gardens synonymous with a Shangri-la brand.

Gayana Island Resort

A "floating" resort on Pulau Gaya, some 20 minutes from Kota Kinabalu. All rooms are built on stilts above water. Price starts at around RM300 per night inc breakfast for two. The room was quite normal in design, but spacious nonetheless. I really love the balcony to watch the amazing sunrise and sunset. Great resort architecture!

Ok, as promised. Stayed there early this month (Dec) for a business meeting. Quite a well-kept secret when it comes to hospitality people, not many people really promote this resort. I loved the EXTRA spacious room with poster bed (very honeymoon-ish), living room, kitchen and great bathroom. Pool was a bit disappointing. Check out the Sembunyi Spa complex, darn, I love the lap pool. Reminds me a lot of Balinese resorts!
