Usually small animals like hamsters and gerbils know how much to eat, though some overeat from deppression and loneliness.

same as me.. bedding change one week once, wash tank 2 weeks once,  refill hay and sand bath my gerbis twice a week..  sweat.gif
is tht too frequent?
*
Its fine to change every week. As I said it depends on how much bedding you use etc... no harm being cleaner, hehe... I change less often because I have only a few gerbils in each tank and sometimes I use a lot of shavings.

Most of the petshops don't care the condition of the pets they're selling one... they don't even bother to change the beddings... that's why some petshops when you just stepped in the exit you can smell the aroma of the pee/poo d... hahahaha

to whosever had smell or odors problems..i think keeping in tanks more more odorless than keeping in cage
