Xperia Z2? smile.gif The Krait-based SoC is much better than those overhyped SoC with 8 x A53 cores (and much much stronger GPU).

Thanks ...anyway just wanted to know how is the comparison to sony z3/z3+ and htc one m9? any idea? notworthy.gif

Don't spend so much on china phones, doesn't worth it. biggrin.gif
Z3 - Just nice
Z3+ - Have some heat issues due to Snapdragon 810. The recent firmware locks the processor to run at 4 x A53 + 1 x A57 to reduce the issue. sweat.gif
M9 - Also same issue due to Snapdragon 810. Camera is worse than Z3 / Z3+. icon_rolleyes.gif

So far review for one plus two
Their version of snapdragon 810  dont have that problem
*
The only way to solve the issue is to reduce the chance to trigger the activation of A57. icon_idea.gif
In fact the phones in market now are all using v2.1.
What we want is the full speed, not downclocked, but it isn't possible for processors with A57.

There is why A72 is coming out to solve this issue.

so confusing.. but i can see honor 7's chipset is better than A8..

what about i raise my budget to RM1700
what else phone can i get?

purpose for gaming

The Kirin 935's GPU is weaker than what Qualcomm can offer. Snapdragon 615's GPU isn't good as well.
With that price, you need to target for Snapdragon 800/801 phones.

Choices : Z3 (Very good battery life) / Z3 Compact (Small screen, but you get extremely good battery life) / HTC M8 Eye (Aluminium chassis)

Would go for Sony / HTC. Spend so much on china phones is pretty pointless, they are just hardware assembler and the OS design is disgusting (iOS-alike). laugh.gif
HTC is the ancestor of aluminium body trend, while Sony you get the very bright Triluminous screen and powerful 1/2.33" camera sensor (need manual mode to bring out the best of it).

Sony / HTC's firmware are very light as well, not much of "fancy optimization aka gimmicky <insert name> OS" from vanilla Android. It might not fit the taste of casual users, but certainly fit minimalists.

It is unfair to say like that, Sony and HTC actually are also hardware assembler. Many part in the phone are not made by themself.
China phone is not as worse as you mention.
They are getting better and better.

I do own an OPPO Find 7, China phone, that doesn't feel like a China phone. It is on par with those high end phone. But pricing is just half what other brand offer.

Those manufacturers have their own R&D department that adds value into their products :
- Apple - Processor
- Samsung - Processor, Memory, Screen

You talk about HTC and Sony, but bring up Apple and Samsung for comparison? HTC is technically the same as any Chinese brand, they barely make anything for their devices, even the shitty cameras are from Toshiba. Sony make the displays and camera modules for their phones, but that's it.

While Chinese companies don't manufacture their own parts, they do openly reveal where they get all their parts from, and most of the time the sources are just as good these self manufacturered parts.

Meizu for example clearly state that the displays they use are sourced from Sharp, and are high quality IGZO panels, and anyone with a functioning pair of eyes can clearly see that, even in their budget models like the M2 Note. Others like Xiaomi source their panels from companies like JDI who specialize in display panels. Even things like camera modules are lifted directly from big name manufacturers like Sony and Samsung, so the quality is definitely there

On top of that, some Chinese companies are also making improvements in these areas, like Huawei and they're line of Kirin processors.

Using a reason such as the one you have to devaluate a phone is idiotic and unreasonable. A device cannot be judged based on where the parts were obtained, but by how it performs. And if the device performs well then I see no reason to deprecate its value.
*
Sony - Camera, Screen, Waterproof ports.
HTC - Remember the old Ultrapixel? smile.gif They asked ST Ericsson and Omnivision to manufacture it.
I have no issue with Kirin, but if the phone is not best bang for bucks, then that is clearly not a good choice.

Manufacturers tend to reserve the best part for themselves. Can you see any china phones that has screen perform on par with Note 5? Any of them has the best Sony module at the time they being launched (IMX300)?

They asked ST Ericsson and Omnivision to build it for them. Keyword here, asked. In other words, they got another manufacturered to make it for them. Very convincing.

And? You don't seem to realize that Chinese phones are the very definition of Bang for your buck in the smartphone world. Nobody thinks of Samsung or Apple when it comes to value for money anymore. People look straight to Honor, Xiaomi and Asus.

The Huawei P8 came with a specially made Sony IMX278 RGBW sensor that performed incredibly well, and that sensor is exclusive to the P8. On top of that, do I even need to bring up the Nexus 6P? Fills out both of your last questions pretty easily. As I've already said, people who devaluate smartphones based on parts the device uses are idiotic. The only thing that matters is the final product, and how well it performs.
*
1) They came up with the idea first when others are busy in megapixel race.
2) That sensor is not exclusive. Other manufacturers still have the choice to access it, but they didn't. In fact, it is already in Sony production for quite sometime before Huawei decided to use it.

I don't deny them in sub-1K price, but close to 2K, hell no.

thanks everyone for the reply..

What about mi4i? is the camera good?

How is Sony phones lately? are they reliable? had bad experience with Sony Ericsson phones last time where it will spoil after 1 year use...
*
Snapdragon 615 is a turn down. Mi4C would be a much better choice, if you can bear the yellowish screen.

Sony quality wise.... My soon-to-4 years old Xperia Ray with CM11 Kitkat and 2.5 years old Xperia TX with custom ROM still working reliably here.
Just bought a Z5 Compact. smile.gif

For M5, it has been plagued by battery issue (the phone will shut down by itself when switching from LTE to 3G network, then need to use a charger/powerbank to reopen it) recently, but looks like it has been solved on the new batch of stock.
We have a M5 thread here, you can ask the users there.
https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/3576808

Sony Taiwan has issued a notice for those who have that issue will get refunded if the RMA unit doesn't work.
raymondtong94 Just to double check, is the issue solved now? biggrin.gif
