Hi thanks for your feedback.

Oppo Find 7A
A bit old model, released Mar 2014, Jelly Bean out of the box, I think still upgradeable to KitKat.

Samsung Galaxy S5
Prefer 5.5" screen, old man need bigger display.

Huawei Honor 6
Prefer 5.5" screen, old man need bigger display.

Xiaomi Mi4
No 4G, sigh. I put high hope on this initially too.

Xiaomi Mi Note          5.7"
RM1550 (only RM50 extra from my budget), ROM large enough to ignore the need of SD card, no FM radio though. I actually consider this before. But I drop it in an attempt to try to find a 5.5" first before resort to bigger screen. I put this as my backup list first.

Oneplus One (Oneplus 2 not yet launch and won't be getting here any time soon)
Maxis tweeter teases oneplus2 released here sooner than we think though not say how soon. I can only hope  tongue.gif
Oneplus One I am not keen, due to single SIM, average camera performance, slightly old model in my opinion (released in June 2014, but only on sale in Malaysia by Maxis at Apr 2015)

LG G3 (AP Suite your budget, but ori is over your budget)
Prefer original. Less hassle for me.

ZTE Nubia Z7 Max (AP only?)
I guess this one is AP only? Did not even heard of any service center in Malaysia.
Thus out of your suggestion, filter left Xiaomi Mi Note (which I will put as backup list).

If you have to choose among the 4 I listed in my previous thread, what will be your choice and why?
*
You have all the point.
With only 4 listed, only Oneplus 2 will be the best choice, because it using the latest SOC, and it is twice more powerful than what you have listed.

- no China brand phone (eg: Xiaomi, Huawei, Meizu, etc.)
- Popular brands is ok (Asus, Samseng, Sony, etc.)
- 5 inch and above
- OS if can lollipop (going to install some launcher for old people use)
- good quality to view pictures/videos, just ok quality to take pictures
- 2GB ram
- ok-ish battery
*
Top recommend, only ASUS brand (ASUS is a Taiwan brand, their pricing now approaching China brand)
1. ASUS Padfone S, 5" 1080p, 16GB, 2GB RAM
2. ASUS Zenfone 2, ZE550ML, 5.5" 720p, 16GB, 2GB RAM.

Well, for Samseng, Sony, HTC, 2GB RAM is not available for this price.

1. Samsung Galaxy J5, 5" 720p AMOLED, 8GB, 1.5GB RAM,
2. Sony Xperia C3, 5.5" 720p, 8GB, 1GB RAM
3. Sony Xperia T3, 5.3" 720p, 8GB, 1GB RAM
4. HTC Desire 620G, 5" 720p, 8GB, 1GB RAM

hi sifu..
ive oledi seen in the satu gadget..
n a bit confuse..
wat r the dffrent btween imported set n malaysia set..
but the warranty 2 years by satu gadget 4 import set..
cud u help me sifu..whch 1 ok.
TIA
ekceli i wanna buy redmi note lte..

*
Reply on behalf of other sifu, correct me if I'm wrong.

Imported set = AP set. Where warranty is not at Malaysia, and you cannot bring your phone at any local service center. Phone will be send back to China factory for warranty, thus waiting time is much longer.
Thus it is labeled "imported set" where it is imported unofficially from other country (China).
Normally it is cheaper than the Malaysia set or Original set.

Malaysia Set = Original phone that is intended to sell in Malaysia that conform to Malaysia network specification.
You can bring the phone to any local service center for repair, original and genuine part are used and sold.
Because of the good warranty, and genuine original part for Malaysia market, the price is higher than AP set.

I've come again.

Seeking a phone that is below rm500.

Criteria - for hotspot only
Requirement - must have wifi tethering and support 4G. If dual sim 4G is the better.

Brand is not a concern, as long i can get the cheapest i can. Thanks in advance sifu.

Fixed. Ap sets NEVER sent back to origin country for warranty. Instead it will be repaired by the selling shops who are selling the phone. Thats y the time taken is longer because they need to source for the spareparts and not SEND BACK to origin country.
And again,wrong info.

Thanks for clarification.

QUOTE(akemasyraf @ Aug 5 2015, 06:05 PM)
Hi, need to recommend my friend between Xiaomi Mi4 and Asus Zenfone 2 ZE551ML 2gb ram. Which one is better? Oh and he didnt mind of no 4g in Mi4. Thanks for helping.
*
If 4G don't mine, then both are equally ok.

Here are the verdict:

Consider Zenfone 2 over Mi4
1. Bigger screen, 5.5" vs 5"
2. Has micro SD slot
3. 32GB storage vs only 16GB storage (more storage memory is always welcome, but Mi4 only come with 16GB with no expandable option)
4. Has NFC (may not be a drastic feature at the moment, but future proof, Mi4 don't has this)
5. Has 4G (I know your friend don't mind, but 4G is the future, and it is proven to be much faster than 3G in overall internet usage)

Consider Mi4 over Zenfone 2
1. Much lighter, thinner and slimmer, easy for 1 hand use, much slimmer screen bezel
2. Better camera quality
3. Around 50% more brighter screen (well, Zenfone 2 screen is not that dim actually, but much dimmer than Mi4)
4. Better build quality (has side metal frame)

Overall, Zenfone 2 win over Mi4 in features, but Mi4 win over Zenfone 2 on better quality on build, outlook, and camera.

Hi guys, looking for an android phone. Doesn't matter what brand. My budget is about RM 1200+. Will be mainly using it for social media and media. Gaming not so much as I've got my iPad for that.

Looking for the best bang for buck, prefer good camera and smooth experience and Lollipop. Help is much appreciated sifus!
*
Oneplus One will be the most bang for buck.

Alternative may be ASUS Zenfone 2 (32GB, 4GB RAM edition)

brand any brand will do.
prefer dual sim (single sim is ok) n lte.
high ram prefer and mid to high ranger.
budget 800-1200.

current phone z2 n mi4i (dropping thiz phone, iz kind of suck for me)
*
Around RM1200, best will be Oneplus One, best all rounder at this price range, but only single sim.
Around RM800 to RM900, ASUS Padfone S or ASUS Padfone S Plus may be also considerable, but again, only single sim.

Well, those ASUS Zenfone 2 are around this price range too, may be your best choice among the dual sim phone, but heard only 1 sim can have 4G/3G and sms, another sim just active for calling, need verify by yourself.

Mi4 is around this pricing too, but is very similar to Mi4i, except the different processor, 3GB RAM, and no 4G.

A new midrange phone around this price will be the Samsung Galaxy J7

Oppo Find 7 @ RM998 @ 11street, while stock last.
*
Well, it is available for whole Malaysia at all Oppo outlet:

Oppo Find 7, 5.5" 2K screen, 32GB memory, 3GB RAM, Snapdragon S801 2.5Ghz, price drop to RM998 with original screen protector, VOOC fast charger. (RM998, already include GST, no extra charge)

It is the real steal, and the cheapest phone around with 2K screen, still remain with Micro SD slot and removable battery 3000 Mah.

It is much more worth than Xiaomi Mi4 that selling for RM899, and both Mi4i that cost RM899 for 32GB and RM749 for 16GB, ASUS Padfone S Plus 64GB for RM899, and beat all ASUS Zenfone 2, and much cheaper than Xiaomi Mi Note 64GB, Oneplus One 64GB, Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro, LG G3, Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Huawei Honor 6 Plus.

You can expect everything with flagship grade level from this phone.
Now, it is time to buy the phone.
This is not the cheaper Find 7A, it is the real Find 7 that selling under RM1000.

To request recommendation, what u need to post:

1. Brand. (HTC/Samsung/LG/Motorola/Others)
No limitation.

2. Budget. (1.5k-2k)
Below 1.2k

3. Specs. (Ram/Proc/Camera's MP/Screen size)
Good camera, at least 2GB of RAM, 1080p display, descent battery life, no major issue

4. What you need in the phone (Good camera/good sound quality/durable)
I hope to get a phone with lesser bloatware. Asus Zenfone 2 seems to have tons of bloatware. XiaoMi seems to looks like an iPhone. I hope to get a Stock Andriod experience. But I hope not to get an old phone. Better if it is released this year.

Btw, is Moto X Play released in Malaysia?
*
You may consider Oppo Find 7 now, which now only sell for RM998, exceed all your listed spec, (3GB RAM, 2K screen, 3000 mah battery), and now is below RM1000.

Ask the shop to help you update to Color OS kitkat.

any other recommendation?

Oppo Find 7, now selling at RM998 maybe your best choice.

wah. u using one eh.
so how was it compare to other high end phone u test?
*
It is the real flagship phone. Comparable to Note 4, and LG G3, S5.
Blazing fast, almost no lag, the UI and OS provide great feature like Note 4 and G3 to play around.
Only drawback maybe no IR blaster, camera no OIS, but overall no problem for me.

No heating issue. Speaker is the loudest among the phone that I own before.
For the price lower than Oneplus One, and getting much more than what Oneplus One can offer, I pick the phone without second thought, really satisfy with the phone, no regret. (Actually my phone just broken last week, so I start searching a new replacement phone. This phone meet all my requirement with a real bargain price, other phone in my consideration list are Lenovo Z2 Pro, LG G3, Xiaomi Mi Note, ASUS Zenfone 2 4GB version, previous phone is a poor Acer Liquid S2, which has heating issue, battery drain fast, poor camera, poor, speaker and poor screen, sudden self auto restart)

Okay, this is new to me, I thought exclusive to 11street. So now is available all outlet?
*
Yes.... available to all outlet.

But most outlet not displaying the unit anymore, or will say no more stock, you have to ask for the unit, I personally visited more than 10 outlet in the same shopping mall.
Most outlet will tell you only the white color unit are available, black color unit have to be ordered (while this is true, I still manage to get the black color unit).

Been told this is for Merdeka Day promotion, started on 29/30 AUG 2015, price before the promotion is already drop to RM1498.

But how to bargain for RM998 at retail outlet? The official notice is RM1498 only. hmm.gif
*
No need bargain, all shop now selling at RM998 (so far only saw 1 outlet stick the real RM998 price, other outlet still sticking the RM1498 price, but selling at RM998), some shop reluctant to show it out, or just totally ignore the unit (they will try promote you the R5, R7 and N3 unit). Some shop just tell me no more stock available and no more in production (discontinued).

Maybe the price cut is too much and too sudden, so the information is not widespread.
You can go and ask for the price at any outlet, I bought my unit by this week, after visited the 10th outlet finally settle down with one outlet that able to give me the black color unit without need to order or wait. (White color unit immediately available)
The unit that I get is a new unit sealed in the box.

Anyone who previously interested in this phone, is time for you to grab the phone.
Price drop almost half of the original price.
Grab it while stock last.

Another phone worth recommend is the ASUS Padfone S 16GB, 2GB RAM version.

PC Depot now is selling the original set at RM699, pricing same as the Meizu M1 note and M2 note.
Only PC Depot is selling this unit at such low price

http://www.pcdepot.com.my/ori-asus-padfone...k-4716659886143

Recommend for those with tight budget, and want a phone that has performance and spec close to Samsung Galaxy S5. (Of course, with some minus like no water resistant, no removable battery, lower camera quality, no IR blaster, smaller battery at 2300 mah)

If you can pay a bit more, ASUS Padfone S Plus 64GB, 3GB RAM version is selling at RM899 at shop like DirectD.

Yeah, not all shop willing to sell at that pricing, have to ask and ask. smile.gif

Btw, I already buy one for my sis coming birthday.

And I stumble on this link doh.gif

http://www.gizchina.com/2014/05/23/sufferi...owing-problems/

Should be resolved already right?
*
Well, my unit doesn't has the screen yellowish issue. I have seen other unit has such issue, notably at the bottom of the screen. I have check on all the screen edge, couldn't notice any.

QUOTE(Dannyl @ Sep 4 2015, 07:55 PM)
Wow.  Been eyeing the LG G3 used, but at that price, can get a new Find 7 now!

Two questions:
1)  What's the latest stable firmware?  Kit Kat ah?  Shop can help upgrade?
2)  How's the battery life with the latest stable firmware?  Saw the GSMArena review, battery life is bad, but that was like 1 year ago.
*
1. Latest stable firmware is Color OS V2.0.8i, Android 4.4.2, shop can help upgrade, just take around 10 minutes.

2. Well, battery life is a subjective thing. On moderate usage, just Facebook, Wechat, Whatapps, online, can last a day with data turn on. Of course, gaming drain more battery, current generations smartphone all are battery drainer.

3. Oppo phone memory has a known issue, where by default apps is allowed to be installed around 3GB in a separated partition. Remember go to setting, then find "Switch Partition" to allow apps to be installed on the whole phone remaining storage. Phone will be resetted and all data will be wipe out after doing so. It is recommended to do so on 1st startup. Or, you need to backup all the apps and file before doing so.
