to people who think you deserve 5k mmr, you can actually create new account and play around 30 unranked matches, then you can start to calibrate solo

below is my smurf which calibrated @ 4580

[first match highest TBD @ 4.98k average; after losing first match, dropped down to 4.2k average (the cap of mmr calibration 4999; first match usually takes your hidden mmr, after that it drops to around 4.1-4.3k whether u win or lose); proceeded to win 7-3 and calibrated 4580 at the end]

not really hard to climb. I have raised my old account mmr from 3.5k to 5.5k in 2 mths (play average 3-4 matches per day; with around 75% winrate), provided that you are actually 5k player (i reached 5.6k on my main before i raised my old account to 5.5k)

solo only. my first 30 unranked pub i play mostly with 4.7-5.5k solo mmr (if they display), highest is 6.2k-6.5 (mikasu wu li sth)

hardest to climb bracket = 4-4.5k i think, people in these brackets are those who think they are good (they are mostly good) but actually fail in other aspects (drafting, teamwork, willingness to compromise).

my new smurf calibrated 4.58k in the end, from 4.6k - 5.2k, i lost only 3 matches.

yes. calibration mmr wont be far off from what you calibrated last time. its only worthy if u have lost too much mmr from your initial calibration on the non-ti rank

I play riki offlane pos 3, not the riki that everyone saw in manila major

for smurf i just rekt all games with riki, my fav hero. as long as you rekt u will easily reach 5k mmr in hidden mmr.

im good in many heroes, but i only play riki as he is my favourite, i play only other heroes when people ban or pick my riki.

im also top 100 riki in dotabuff, dotamax and yasp as well.

battlecup is really a great idea and i hope valve will continue working on this project after TI.

Pros of the battlecup
- your mmr decides your division tier, and the division tier chat channel allows you to find teammates with same range of skill easily to compete in the same tier

- seamless matchmaking (better than faceit, lmao), 5 mins break to enter subsequent matches should you advance

- gives you hands on experience of competing in high level.

180ms is playable but surely there is some small delay.

my 2nd and 3rd match in american division valve just decided to pair my team to brazilian giving me 400ms , we fought hard and won first but 2nd it was close , 65 mins game.

for high ping matches the trick is to draft line up based on ghost prophet/aba and generally tanky + siegeing heroes.
