Like I said. Different odds, different payout.

Favorites will be low payout but better odds and vice versa.

But the odds do not really mean the horse will win, just more likely and the odds are calculated based on punters bets and the horse and jockey previous abilities.

If you don't understand, I suggest you take RM50, go there and just bet for fun.

Then got other kinds of bets like top 3 placing, or you can go accumulator bets on 2 or more outcomes etc etc.

The odds will be determine by the horse past performance and numbers of betting. You can study the horse performance and past records via race card which can be purchase at the Turf Club it self or for free via online.

Malaysia Turf Club will be charging RM5 per bet on either win or place. So if you bet 1 win and 1 place at number 1 horse will be RM10. And if the pay out is RM30 for win and RM10 for place on no 1 winning horse, you will be getting RM40 on your RM10 win and place bet. Win will be only payable on the winning horse whereas place will be winner, runners-up and 2nd runners-up.

You can just go there and have fun. Do not think about to win big and treat it as a hobby/sport for horse racing. Have fun!

While Singapore and HK more transparent.

there are syndicates which are professional in calculating the odds in trying to beat the system. There is algorithm which is able to calculate the best ROI, based on the fluctuating odds.

Depends on the odds bro. If you put it all on the favs, the payout is less.

However, there are occasion where ppl do put silly bets and win huge. A classic example is when Frankie Dettori won all 7 races in Ascot many years ago.

There were a few punters who actually made such bets and one went to win $550k for a $70 bet.
