i am currently in aus and i got an interview invitation for a position in msia at the end of october, but i cant attend until my exams finish on 24 nov, so i addressed that prob and requested for a later interview. The person in charge says we will let u know at the end of nov, is my hope still alive?

Yeah, usually if they really want your skills and your reason is like exams and stuff they should contact you.

Anyway, since you are in Aus, why not look for a position in Aus itself? You have more opportnities there.

i cant get a PR, without PR its very hard to get an actuarial job over here for my specialisation, i am doing actuarial. I am worried about their willingness to wait for 1 month to hire a person. They posted the job on 17th october, i applied on 22nd october, they contacted me today, too early for my expectation sad.gif

I guess you should only start applying for jobs while you are taking/completed your exams. At least the employers don't need to wait.

Not to worry. Once your exam is finished, send them an e-mail to notify/remind them about your application.

thank you for the suggestions, but actuarial jobs for people with no experience like me seldom exist in msia, so once they exist, i immediately apply because i thought its close to the end of my course anyway. The application date started on 17 october and will end on 15 november. Thats why I thought usually they will gather all applications until 15 november then make assessments.

there are more than 1000 fully qualified actuaries around in aus, actuarial only get 50 points in the PR point system, which is insufficient to get a PR.

Easy to get job maybe, but not exactly easy to get an "actuarial" job, especially in fully developed countries, malaysia maybe still ok. Gaming system like casinos is actually quite fixed, i reckon u just need good statistical knowledge to be able to analyze those systems. I actually thought of working there before some years ago, but after some time I feel that the prospect isnt that good, just my opinion.
