you are one of the typical 'p*g' which ruin the whole malaysia.
otherwise, malaysia is developed as good as taiwan or sg now.

haha..only technician..haha
thanks for this info.
so 1.5~2.0 is for diploma malaysian with 2 year exp. sweat.gif
....if..if i want try to work on other field with no exp how the salary?
*
i doubt you will get 2k with technician position here.
even singaporean diploma holder also cannot get 2k with 1~2 year experience.
but that's just for basic, you can get more if you are running day and night shifts.

most of the companies here don't recognize msia private college certificates.
even those big names like MMU, Sunway...etc

QUOTE(mls_gamer @ Jun 23 2008, 12:14 AM)
as i know from my friend as a degree holder with no exp work as a engineer basic salary is >3000 sg right?
*
i got many friends just started working in SG.

USM Engineer degree holder, Process Engineer, has been working for 6 months.
Current salary is SGD2.7k

NTU Engineer degree holder, Structural Engineer, has been working for 1 year.
Salary starting at SGD2.4k

Unless you are singaporean, otherwise your salary most likely won't pass 2.8k.

QUOTE(Suk @ Jun 23 2008, 12:39 AM)
boring life. as my friend told me.
*
It depends.
I'm enjoying my free time life here with surfing net, online gaming and sometimes hang out at shopping complex during weekends.

I Am Not Agreed. R U Refer NewBie? Or?
*
I'm talking about fresh grads.
They did a survey for fresh grad from sg local universities.
The average salary for engineering student is 2.6-2.8k. wink.gif

Its almost end of the month already; perhaps I could give you guys a breakdown on my expenditure on the 1st month working in SG.

Staying in a 1+1 unit at Marine Terrace with my girlfriend.

- Rental deposit (1 month deposit): $550
- Rental: $550
- Housing agent fees (50% of rent): $275
- Broadband application: $55
- Singtel postpaid: $50
- Wi-fi router: $70
- Household and cooking utensils etc: $200
- Ez-link card for public transport: $100
- Food: $500
- Employment Pass application (inclusive of body checkup): $100

Haven't got my utility bill yet but most probably it will be $60. So there goes... a grand total of $2450 for the 1st month. Next month onwards won't be so hefty... rough estimate gonna be around $1400 only. smile.gif
*
ya, the first 2 months is tough.

why don't you sign the wireless broadband?
it'll be troublesome if you move to another house.
singtel will charge you for switching the port.

jus take starhub connect cable no need phone line
sg wireless is quite sucky i tired b4
*
I'm using singtel broadband on mobile now.
it's 2mbps, much faster than screamyx 1.5mbps at my johor hometown.
so far so good, seldom get dc.
sucky? I think you haven't try celcom and maxis yet. tongue.gif

starhub blocked p2p, and they are using share line which means the bandwith is depends on the internet traffic.
singtel broadband is otherwise.

^You actually downloading via P2P? I thought Singapore has a strict law against P2P/Bittorent download  ohmy.gif

BTW which mobile service is better? Singtel or Starhub? I heard that Singtel got a package called 128 or something like that, is it good?
*
ya, but most of the people don't care much about the law.
between, the highest p2p speed i got with my singtel wireless broadband 2mbps speed is 60kbps(higher than my previous screamyx laugh.gif)

please check out the link i posted.
from what i read so far, singtel is better.
both have biggest coverage in the island.
most of the users claim webpage and youtube load faster with singtel.

oops, do you mean the mobile package?
singtel is the my choice, strong signal and good coverage.
starhub signal is poor, even worse if there's a lot of people using the line.

starhub : no signal in tunnel, lift
singtel : most of the time no problem.

p.s. As for Singtel and Starhub’s mobile service, there is no such thing as no signal this, no signal that. Singtel and Starhub is just like Maxis and Digi. Moreover Singapore is so damn small and I highly doubt you’ll get zero signal here (perhaps you’re trying to make a call underwater, that I don’t know tongue.gif ). However the rates are a little sucky for Singapore mobile service providers… list as below (comparing my Maxis postpaid and Singtel postpaid):

*
I tried starhub postpaid for my first week.
the signal is zero when the train traveling in subway.
it is the same when you are in the lift.
i'm surprised to see my signal bar become zero when i just took it out from pocket at my office.

singtel has no above issues at all.

ya, agree on the plan charges is sucky.
but they do give you very good price for handphones.
i think that's a trade-off though.

wahlao... it just sounds like NATIONAL roaming to me!! paying to receive calls!! and i cant believe that you need to pay for the incoming caller ID thingie...
*
lol, it's singapore.
there are pros and cons everywhere you go.

as for your previous question:
lotsa malaysians die in sg already if your claim is true. tongue.gif

my living cost is about 1k~1.1k monthly.
it includes single common room rental, PUB, eat and travelling cost.
add another $60 if you wanna add the broadband and postpaid subscription. smile.gif

Me, I'm on Starhub, never had any problems on the MRT or lifts that don't affect Singtel & M1 equally. Anyway, I'm not a MRT driver or lift operator. So even if I had those problems, not a big issue.

*
I got zero signal almost immediately once the train entering the tunnel from Kallang.
It's annoying because I was chatting with my gf. sweat.gif
My SG frens also say when you are in a big event you will get problem with starhub connection.

AFAIK, starhub give more voucher and their bundled phone is the cheapest among all telcos.

I rarely encounter any disconnection here(east side).
The connection is slowest during 8-11pm weekdays but I still can surf net and chatting without any problem.

ohh ya guys can u guys download movies at Singapore? i have problems downloading...if i use bittorent do i get cough by the gov?

afaik starhub completely block P2P activity in their service.

QUOTE(mIssfROGY @ Jun 27 2008, 07:08 PM)
wow i say its harder to get a job in sg coz u r looking at International Competition there where else in msia?? Errr errr...btw, the good ones dont stay in msia ler. If the good ones stay in msia, the average dun stand a chance. (sorry dont mean to say the ones staying back here not good....of coz there are good ones but less oredi coz oredi cabut elsewer like sg, i hope u get wat i mean) And the rich ones in msia.....well ya most rich in msia are biznes people....and i do agree that there are more biznes opportunity here in msia compare to sg becoz of its population. (that also depends nowdays..most rich business are "grab" away liaoz loo)
*
I'm kinda agree because there are many foreign professionals pouring to SG these years.
Especially India and China.

Good Luck
Pros
1. Nice and Efficient transportation system
2. Good Pay
3. Efficient Civil Service
4. Lot of Entertainment Available
5. Good growth prospect if u are hardworking

Cons
1. Expensive Food
2. Expensive everything, everything will be x 2.34 for the first few months
3. Expensive lodging
4. X2 workload since u r Malaysian
5. U will start to miss home and will start to compare Malaysia the next time u come home
*
I don't agree with your cons.

1. Expensive Food? Tell me how much you pay for 2 meat + 1 vegies economic rice
2. Not really
3. SGD450 for a common room. I thought it's the same if you rent a room in KL? (RM400-500)
4. Not really
5. It depends on the person, I feel uncomfortable to see rubbish everywhere started from msia custom checkpoint. doh.gif

for the first month:
first month rent(500) + one month deposit(500) + agent fee(250) = 1250
eat = 350
transport = 100
open bank account = 500 (actually it's 1000 but can withdraw it on next day, $2 will be charged if monthly saving is less than 500)

total = s$2200
2200 x 2.4 = RM5280

can be less if you want to rent a share room.

Nope, SGD500 is for PR.
For non-PR, you need SGD1000 to open bank account.
This is for UOB, not sure about others.
