how much money we want to prepare before go work at SG?

I'd replied on page 98 though wink.gif This is a breakdown on my expenditure for the 1st month in Singapore. By the way, just open a Citibank account will do; you don't have to pay deposit at all.

Its almost end of the month already; perhaps I could give you guys a breakdown on my expenditure on the 1st month working in SG.

Staying in a 1+1 unit at Marine Terrace with my girlfriend.

- Rental deposit (1 month deposit): $550
- Rental: $550
- Housing agent fees (50% of rent): $275
- Broadband application: $55
- Singtel postpaid: $50
- Wi-fi router: $70
- Household and cooking utensils etc: $200
- Ez-link card for public transport: $100
- Food: $500
- Employment Pass application (inclusive of body checkup): $100

Haven't got my utility bill yet but most probably it will be $60. So there goes... a grand total of $2450 for the 1st month. Next month onwards won't be so hefty... rough estimate gonna be around $1400 only. smile.gif

shakehead.gif wah, even SGD400 per room is quite hard to find nowadays; unless you're talking about sharing room with strangers then perhaps SGD200 is possible.

buying a car in sg can be very expensive, you may need to pay double of a car original market value. in addition, u need to pay for the registration fee, bid for coe, taxes and etc..
tats y im wondering whether singaporean buy car in Malaysia n drive it in their homeland
*
Not really, cars have a much higher price tag in Malaysia but the road tax is relatively cheap if compared to SG.

do we need permission from house owner?

Nope, you could subscribe for broadband anytime. But then, it is wise to inform the landlord beforehand. smile.gif

Oh, any room recommendation in Jurong East area?

Thanks Annie, for the comment.

I'm working in IBP Jurong East, but I am staying in Bedok. There are quite a number of HDBs around Jurong Interchange area. You could try your luck there. smile.gif
