Check ur Processor model with CPU-Z... google around ....
usually it woulnt be that hot for newer series of processor ... but for prescott over 3.2 ghz .. it is otherwise condition ....
maybe u need to clean the heatsink and apply a new layer of cooling ceramic...

What HSF are you using now? Did you change the HSF yourself? Did you re-apply thermal paste AFTER cleaning away the old layer? Anyway you should run with open casing and take a look if any of your casing fan / HSF fan not connected /dieded...

Well the thermal paste you need is just a paper thin layer. Don't need to use all of it.......but buy some Artic Silver 5, it should help temps as well as a re-seat of the heatsink is good. KC

=.= sigh...google for this program called CPU-Z and it might provide us with a clearer picture of your problem.
Btw..im having a Prescott 3.2 ghz and my idle temps are at 40'c and full load only reaches 46'c at stock speed... Did messed around with my FSB with ClockGen but couldnt reach a stable OC due to my PSU... I clocked to 3.55ghz and the temps were just a sly high at 44'c at idle and 54'c at load...
You really should look into ur air circulation in your casing and go for Artic Silver 5 dude....

QUOTE(pong85 @ Oct 26 2006, 12:50 AM) I believe you have not applied your thermal paste properly. Either that or your CPU cooler is failing....
