QUOTE(MUM @ Sep 3 2021, 07:19 PM) in terms of %? Yes, you are right on this. I have the same concern. Thanks for the link though.count and compare in % easier to see... i think, you are comparing directly with Gold price Versus Gold etfs.... not sure if those Gold etfs are directly correlated with direct Gold price.... does the Gold etfs that this P emas gold fund hold will have the same risk and reward ratio compared to direct gold investing thru bank's Gold investing a/c unknown to what 5 etfs P emas gonna hold... my wild guess will be these 5 Etfs will have lesser volatility... Seems to be not able to find answers via Google but why most initial investment must be made in 1k? |

QUOTE(thecurious @ Nov 12 2021, 02:03 PM) No idea but if were to venture a guess...its because of costs. PMF SC is 5%, RM 1k initial investment gets RM 50 sales charge. If someone start an account with only RM 10, sales charge rm 0.50 , its pretty much a waste of resources to attend to that. QUOTE(xander83 @ Nov 12 2021, 03:01 PM) Cost of running the fund itself I see...so it is about costing. But of late many e series just need a start up of RM100?If you see some others are lower is because cost efficiencies, high liquidity and AUM size is large |

QUOTE(DragonReine @ Nov 15 2021, 04:44 PM) About 1.5% p.a. like that. No sales charges, minimum starting deposit only RM100. Thanks! It's money market, so it's not very high gains (about equal to average non-promo FD rates) but stable/secure with the benefit of being able to withdraw without losing the interest. Withdrawal time is usually next-business-day speed. e-Cash Deposit Fund currently main promo is the PeCDF-ERA (Emergency Fund) that lets you earn MGP if you set PeCDF as your emergency reserve account via Public Mutual Online. Use it if you want a short term place to park money. It's not meant to be a long term investment vehicle. |

"Switching fee of up to RM50 will be imposed if units are switched out of the fund after 90 days from the date of purchase or switching of units into the fund."
If I want to switch fund, how do I know how much would they charge? What does up to RM50 means? Regardless of units? |

QUOTE(DragonReine @ Nov 22 2021, 03:07 PM) The actual amount needed to pay depends on the type of fund you're switching from, the type of fund you're switching to, and whether your units are loaded/non-loaded. Thanks. Please read the prospectus/product highlights of the fund you're switching from. All funds have slightly different methods of calculation. Otherwise it can be very costly as some funds have a high minimum switching fee regardless of units, loading, or the minimum days held. |

My mum has a fund that she wanted to add my name in. However, the bank told her that she needs to pay RM50 to put my name in. Is there such a fee? |

QUOTE(xander2k8 @ Mar 8 2023, 12:21 PM) Why are you talking about FSM when PUblic Mutual is closed end funds in the 1st place 🤦♀️ as they are not sold outside by any distributors unlike other fund houses But brokerage charge is not as low as 1.5%?Forget about buying mutual funds as to hold because the sales charges itself is ready rip-off not to mention management and expense fees ETFs way better for cost and tax efficiency not to mention only expense ratio fee being on top of brokerage which is next to nothing compared to sales charges |

Brokerage charge is nothing when you pay 2% one off let’s says while holding for 10 years while UT you are paying management fee annually 1.5% let say and added expense ratio for fund fees at least to 1.5% yearly Don’t mention trustee fee which is low like 0.1% UT will cost you 10 years holdings while losing 30% fee just in fees if added SC charges you have just 1/3 of your fund while just paying off the fees which is why after 10 years many still losing money holding on UT 🤦♀️ [/quote But isn't UT supposed to outperform it's benchmark while an ETF will never outperform its index? That's why we are paying for all these fees.. |

QUOTE(contestchris @ Apr 21 2023, 05:06 PM) Yes at best Public Bank and LPI are sister companies since they share the same major shareholder, the estate of Teh Hong Piow. LPI is in no way the parent company of Public Bank. Knowing the parent companies is important nowadays recognising issue like SVB, CS, etc..... |
