Hi guys, I just bought an Alienware 15 R3.
Temperatures for CPU & GPU were horrendous initially after playing 15 mins of f****** lightweight Overwatch.
CPU: 100 degrees
GPU: 93 degrees
Called Dell and ordered them to replace my heatsink and fans (I was basically barking orders on the phone). Technician shows up the next day with parts.
He told me the older 2016 - 2017 fans had an older design and it is installed onto the laptop subframe whereas new 2018 fans are attached to the heatsink assembly instead. Unfortunately, the replacement heatsink ships with stock thermal paste from the factory so I couldn't use my Arctic thermal paste.
Temperatures after heatsink and 2 fans replacement substantially dropped. Tested Witcher 3 and Far Cry 5.
CPU: 80 - 83 degrees
GPU: 71 - 73 degrees
Benchmark scores
3dmark Firestrike: 10,080
Superposition 1080p Extreme: 2115
CINEBENCH R15: 710
As I'm typing this, I noticed that there are 2 buttons that do not register. Absolutely love the laptop overall but Dell has really SHITTY QC. Dell should sack or torture their QC personnel for committing crimes against humanity.
