QUOTE(aaronpang @ Jul 30 2018, 09:34 PM) It might be IPS glow, often users mistake it for back-light bleeding. Thanks for advice, I contacted Dell and they will do screen replacement. Mine doesn't exhibit back-light bleeding. Monitor Defects As Fast As Possible Maybe compare with samples shown here:- https://www.monitornerds.com/backlight-blee...ad-stuck-pixel/ End of the day suggest contact customer support. |

QUOTE(Alan Chong @ Jul 31 2018, 05:34 PM) I think Dell need to improve their QC team ... Dell did the right things and offer replacement.Anyway, my 2nd unit so far so good except CPU temperature a bit high. Hopefully won't trouble me again ... and I don't think Dell will allow me to get another replacement again .... hahaha Hopefully faulty unit gets a post mortem by QC to figure out what could be wrong. CPU temp could why AW13 was never got refreshed Coffee lake CPU's. QUOTE(edmund_yung @ Jul 31 2018, 01:51 AM) The whole point of using such thick laptop is to have good thermal performance, if Dell decided those are the new normal temperature then I'm not going to recommend future AW to anyone. Those are ridiculous temperature on such thick laptops. Even my aw 15 r3 i5bis hovering around 70-80c when gaming. This is already undervolted and disabled turbonboost. |

QUOTE(Jay Chua CC @ Aug 3 2018, 11:18 AM) Looks okay maybe clearing previous gen model... COD and inspect to be safe.Ask for the SN Tag Number check the warranty status online. https://www.dell.com/support/home/my/en/mybsd1?app=warranty If the warranty is used up could be already registered or second hand set. Example this is warranty check for my unit:- Clarify battery capacity Malaysia Alienware is normally equipped with (99 Wh) Li-On battery. The listing says 68WHr lithium-ion, maybe copy paste error or downgraded battery. |

Very happy with my AW13R3. After repaste and do some tweaking and modification the temperature as below;
(stress test about 1 hour) before, CPU idling: 60C to 70C (some core different almost 10C) max: 92C to 97C (damn hot) GPU idling: 65C to 70C max: shoot until 99C lol after CPU idling: 49C to 52C max: Not more than 82C~85C (with turbo boost) GPU idling: 54C~57C max: 73C~77C With undervolt -150mv via XTU even reduced 1C to 2C further. and almost fan spinning not even heard. with TurboBoost enabled bossted to 3.8GHz and with daily task (word, surfing, checking email) the temperature registered not more than 60C. Nice. I will share the picture later. |

Sharing some mod that I've done to my laptop.
(As attached) i use some aluminium tape (can be bought at ace hardware) and tape around the fan and some of copper heat sink. Basically this is to ensure the heat is not spread out (its like contain it) and the heat will flow right the way it was. For thermal paste I've used Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut (paste) and Thermal Grizzly Minus Pad 8. At the moment idling is around 50C with room temperature. I've used same method for my Alienware M17X-R4. So far so good. Cheers. QUOTE(nicks @ Aug 5 2018, 10:58 AM) Very happy with my AW13R3. Oh yes before I forgot, the last image shows got 1 thermal tape (near RAM slot). That is to reduce temperature for PCH. After some stressing it wont raise more than 65C. (Previously shoot up at 78C.
More info can look below link. PCH |
