Bucket seats are never comfortable than stock seats. For 1k, you should get a half cut used seat. No hope on new well branded bucket seats. Else go with local brand sscus

Don't bother looking at brands. Some places where they sell second hand bucket seats from japan (see sunway) have bucket seats you can try out (podium for example)

Choose a brand that has a seat that complements your size. For me recaro just right for my size even if the butt area is a little soft, but bride is a little looser for me (that is desirable for some) Sparco, stock semi bucket seats of other sports car may be a good option if it's your size.

Because in malaysia we have limited models to choose from, choosing based on brand is not the way to go IMO.

A sports seat from a stock FT86 might be nice as well, or a supra's one.. totally depends on how snug or loose you want it.

fitment places to look out for include shoulder area, butt and thigh area (should be snug, not too loose, but that's also depends on your preference) also check for worn out cushioning (means the sponge already disentegrate, so not firm anymore.

I'm not a fan of SSCUS, because the seats are too firm (cushioning too soft) for me. But they may be worth a look if you can't fit any of the japanese brands as they are very loose compared to the above.

Good luck searching!

p/s as for fakes... google, or find a friend who knows what he's looking at.

if you are a halfcut shop regular, you can notice fakes just by looking at the fabric.

Bucket no, semi bucket yes. Mostly we see are halfcut seats from japan, and since they are skinny, so the sizes are usually such, and not very fitting for Malaysians.

But there are very comfy semi buckets.

Ever seen one of these?

These are the semi bucket seats for luxury cars.

Used half cut condition seat is the seat you will want.

I myself has go through Recaro Enjoi, SR3, SR4, Sparco Torino. All of them are made for Asian body type like us.

For full non adjustable bucket seat, they looked extremely good but due to the fact the side of thigh and shoulder support is in FRP, you will have problem getting in and out of the car. You need to climb in there.

I still prefer Enjoi the best. BRIDE are just pure terrible comfort wise.

Recaro make the best aftermarket seat IMO, well ample support, not too soft yet not stiff like wood.

Recaro enjoy goes for 1K for the tip top condition.

For big bolster seat like SR-3, you need to take care of issues like they will torn from abrasion of yourself getting in and out of the car. The thigh support area will also be torn and the cushion squashed after a very long time of usage.

There is also an issue of how much low you want the seat to be installed, they can make custom bracket for you to seat extra low in the car, at Kedai Kusyen Kereta of course.

Disregard any non branded sport seats from Jap sport car. They are a waste of $$

Ohh wait, go mudah.my and search recaro.

To TS,

before blaming the seat, maybe you have to look at your posture. Try to sit more upright. Get some Lumbar cushion .

But -Irregardless of what seat you buy. It MUST FIT you.

I drive a car with 30k km/yr on Recaro FULL RACE bucket with thin padding. It is more comfortable than standard seats because I had the seat padding customized to where I need support.

My old FULL bucket was even more comfortable, since it the shell was custom made to fit me. It was the most comfortable seat I have owned, ok for 6 hour long drives. Sadly had to sell the seat along with the car as it was LHD and impractical to bring it back to MY.

Try to find Recaro Sport seats... you might be able to find them in your budget used. The better ones that come on European sporty cars are unfortunately out of your budget.
